Economics Tutor Martin, WA
The purpose of tutoring is to help students help themselves, or to assist or guide them to the point at which they become an independent learner, and thus no longer need an economics tutor. A tutor is a person with which a student can ask questions freely and without hesitation in a protective and conducive atmosphere. I always tell my students…

Inside CarmelTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Tanvi explored film analysis techniques with a focus on themes and symbolism in *Rabbit-Proof Fence*, then applied these skills by annotating poetry including works by Dylan Thomas and Maya Angelou.

Year 10 sessions with Jake included working through index laws and formula rearrangement, plus solving linear equations and tackling worded algebra problems using real-world examples.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Priya revised trigonometric ratios—Soh Cah Toa—and practiced multistep problems involving sine rule and quadratic equations, building confidence through targeted practice questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student, after being assigned World War I research as homework, did not complete it; as a result, lesson time had to be spent on research instead of essay writing.

In Year 8 Maths, untidy working and inconsistent setting out led to errors when copying numbers—one tutor noted, "he mistook a 36 for 30 after rewriting the 6."

For a younger learner in Year 5, hesitation was observed before attempting problems independently due to fear of mistakes. This slowed progress and made it difficult to develop confidence with new material.

Recent Achievements

One Carmel tutor noticed a real shift with Tanvi, a high school student who previously struggled to write independently—she completed all her poem annotations without any help and tackled a review essay draft on her own before accepting editing feedback.

Another high schooler, Niru, used to avoid explaining his reasoning out loud in maths; now he's regularly talking through problems step by step and even goes back over past mistakes to check his knowledge, showing new initiative.

Meanwhile, Josh (Year 7) began applying algebraic formulas on his own and clearly explained each stage as he solved for x.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We asked for assistance on a short term basis to help with some exam preparation.  Our tutor was quickly able to assess our daughter's capability and provide practical assistance with problem solving and techniques. Most importantly the tutor instilled real confidence in our daughter's ability, offering encouragement, support and reinforcement all the way.  We would not hesitate to contact Ezy Math for our future needs.

We are very happy with the tutoring work that Adedayo has done with Harrison so far. He has quickly formed a great rapport with Harrison and are they working very well together. Adedayo has been very encouraging and has managed to give Harrison confidence in his abilities even though they have only had a few sessions together. Harrison looks forward to his tutoring and has positive approach to sitting down and working with Adedayo. We look forward to continuing the tutoring arrangements and positive outcomes for Harrison.

We are very happy with Aurelius, he has turned something that was "like another language" (according to Aaron) into something he understands and has found his first test easy. We intend to hold onto Aurelius for as long as he wants to coach Aaron.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kalamunda Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Carmel Adventist College.
