To be there through their questions and help them grow in areas they find hard in achieving. Help them find confidence in themselves and their abilities I'm a visual interpreter and learner. I explain using diagrams, pictures etc, this will make it easy for them to understand what is being taught and I tend to use examples relating to personal…

One of the most important things that I think a tutor can do for a student is to be patient and be willing to share the knowledge and experiences with the student. It is important to let students know that they are not alone when they encountered any difficulties and tutor is not annoyed. Tutor will always be there when he/she needs help in…

First and the foremost is that, the tutor must understand the level of teaching, because it varies with the student. Each and every student have different capabilities and understanding level, so the foremost job of teacher is that they must understand the student and level and set their strategy accordingly. Following are the Strengths i Possess…

Some of the most important things that a tutor can do for a student is to motivate them to think on their own, build their confidence and create an environment where they are not scared to ask questions. Being able to quickly modify my approach to meet the needs of each student is one of my skills as a tutor because I am aware that not everyone…

As a high school leaver, I consider providing support and trust as well as accurate academic knowledge to be the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student. Students do have teachers at school, therefore, the job of a tutor is to revise and trigger the knowledge of students, letting them realise their potential. I have physical and…

Apart from only teaching the textbook content, I like to counsel them as to the importance of education and how its going to help them in the future by encouraging them to do better. Tutors need to give the students a short break of about 5-10 mins in between so that they don't get over worked, as the situation demands. Both of this helps the…

Allow the student to have a greater appreciation of the subject, allowing them to view questions as puzzles which must be solved. I have a reasonable outlook on work/life balance. I am able to summarise content into simple analogies which are quite effective. I am approachable to the youth as i have likely experienced similar hardships they…

It is very important that a tutor can prepare the students with knowledge that they require to perform their best at school. Therefore, in order to achieve such thing, a tutor need to be able to identify where are the students' weaknesses, plan out what method of teaching the tutor can help to improve such weaknesses and ensure to develop a good…

The students already have teachers at school. Rather than being just another teacher figure, a tutor is also a mentor that travels on a journey alongside the student. As such, the most important things they can do for the child is to be compassionate, patient, and support the child with the goals they want to achieve. I am patient, I take the time…

I think its most important to listen and consider your students by asking questions, attentively listening to their responses to determine if they have underlying misunderstandings or misconceptions about the material. By letting a student explain the topic in their own words, I can diagnose the issue and perhaps offer a new perspective on how I…

To make the students be clear of the basics which helps the students in the long run and also to be polite with them as not all students have the same level of understanding, and each student has different pace at which they learn so we need to give them as much time as possible to learn better. The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to let them learn on their own. I think the best tutors know how to balance their student's learning pace by guiding them only when they have to. This helps the student learn on their own, and, as a result, learn more efficiently. My strength as a tutor is how I communicate concepts. I…

Most important would definitely be effort towards a student. No student would want a tutor who does not have the best interest in them and would definitely not want a tutor who is giving 50% of their efforts. I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to provide guidance that goes beyond the subject content. That means helping students develop good study habits, organisation, and confidence in their own ability to improve. A tutor should create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and…

I would definitely recommend EzyMathTutoring. My son's understanding of maths has increased tremendously. He is happy to do extra work and is taking so much more pride in his mathematics. His grades have improved substantially and he classes maths as one of his favourite subjects. His tutor Stephen is very patient and great at explaining complex concepts. He gives my son a chance to find the answer himself, or asks him the right questions which assist him to find where he is going wrong. All of this has really assisted my son in building confidence in his ability to resolve complex maths problems. Stephen is also always very professional and on time.

Inside CarramarTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Zoe worked through volume and area problems, using diagrams to visualise calculations, and also consolidated her understanding of index laws.

Year 7 student Olivia focused on applying the area model and split technique for multiplication with multi-digit numbers, then practiced short division strategies.

Meanwhile, Year 3 student Jafar explored reading time to the minute and interpreting time phrases, while strengthening his place value skills through partitioning numbers into standard and non-standard forms.

Recent Challenges

In Year 5, Zoe's progress was limited by incomplete homework and frequent distractions—such as turning off her camera or playing with nearby objects—which led to missed practice with times tables and division. "She is easily distracted by her surroundings," a tutor noted after a session on decimals.

Meanwhile, in Year 9 mathematics, Emily rarely completed homework, so formulas for volume and area weren't memorised and working steps were skipped or unclear.

For Jafar (Year 7 English), hesitation and lack of confidence meant he often said "I don't know" before attempting answers, especially when asked to elaborate on his reasoning during persuasive writing.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Carramar noticed that Emily, a high school student, is now able to rapidly solve complex index law questions without hesitation—a big step up from when she'd get stuck applying more than one rule at a time.

Another recent win came from Jafar, who used to avoid asking for help but has started requesting extra thinking time and explaining his reasoning aloud, especially during proofreading exercises.

For a younger learner, Zoe was eager to tackle her maths worksheets independently this week and even worked ahead without prompting—something she hadn't done before.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Fairfield Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Carramar Public School.
