Not just tutor them, but be a friend. By opening up and developing a closer bond to students, the students feel more comfortable and it doesn't become a maths tutoring session, but just a study session. I went through the course(s) myself quite recently, so I understand what's expected on the students, and what they need to do to excel and not…

The most important thing about tutoring is not to be teacher. There is no point of me repeating what the teacher taught, but instead spend time assessing what the student, does not understand about the course which is being learnt. Together with student come to understand of why perhaps this is a difficult thing to grasp and work together to…

Find out each students style of learning and discuss new concepts through that lens. I demonstrate strong patience and a calming demeanour which allows students to access their full learning and cognitive capacity. Luke has been brilliant. Great help and was able to challenge, expand and build on the work that our daughter was doing. Thank you Luke.

Inside CasuarinaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Willow focused on mastering operations with fractions—including simplifying, adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing—plus converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions.

In Year 10, Jeremy worked through Pythagoras' Theorem and practiced measurement geometry skills like finding area and volume of shapes in preparation for his semester exam.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Mia tackled drawing and interpreting scatterplots by labelling axes accurately and analysing the strength and direction of correlations within different data sets.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student entered exam preparation with only basic notes, leaving them unprepared for the deeper, multi-step questions—"I tried to prepare for the basics in all the year 12 curriculum that I wasn't prepared for the in depth exam questions."

In Year 10 algebra, a student hesitated to show working out, which made it harder to spot and fix sign errors.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student forgot her exercise book and paper during an area lesson; calculations couldn't be attempted at all.

In English (Year 7), another struggled to structure written responses into paragraphs despite being given examples.

Recent Achievements

One Casuarina tutor recently noticed **Jeremy now catches his own algebra mistakes** and corrects them with little prompting—something he struggled with at first when he needed step-by-step guidance.

Willow, also in high school, is starting to **independently apply fraction conversion methods** that she found confusing only a few sessions ago; she now confidently works through grade-level worksheets without hesitation.

Meanwhile, Bella in primary school has begun **re-reading her writing to spot grammar issues herself**, instead of waiting for feedback—last week she proofread and improved her story draft before handing it in.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would like to send a sincere thank you to your team for choosing Stefanie Palin into our home. My son, at first, was not keen to have a tutor. However, upon meeting Stefanie from the very first meeting he became keen to learn! Jared`s current maths school teacher has not been able to explain elements of trigonometry. However, after Stefanie showed him techniques he understood within minutes (I overheard Jared saying this). I have found Stefanie to be punctual, professional and very eager to help Jared learn and a lovely lady. If I hear of anyone needing a tutor I will not hesitate to inform them of your company.

Julian has improved since Armanat has come along. It's good to hear that Julian is progressing and where he needs to improve. I encourage him to do revision every week. Julian and I appreciate Amanats tutoring and his feed back, it's most helpful as is this report.

Amir completed one session and was great and communicated really well with Kane and myself.
