To get them engaged and interested in a subject or topic. Although it is good to just teach the student how to pass the exam, I believe that by truly engaging and motivating a student they will get the most reward and the best results from their work. I have very strong communication skills and have constantly proved to be able to build a rapport…

According to me, I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to encourage him and build up the confidence by giving the student positive feedback and helpful suggestions. Also, a tutor should always have an openness and adaptability to dynamic changes to understand situation with empathy as well as common sense. I believe my…

Developing the student’s interest in the subject. Making students more confident about their own skills. I’m able to share many of the problem solving skills with students, those skills developed by studying an engineering course. I am currently a student and tutored by many teachers, I know what the students are expecting from a…

A tutor should always remember that their purpose is to help the student understand and love the subject and not do the work for them. They should try to help the student gain passion and curiosity for the concepts they learn. This will help them study and ace the subject. Furthermore, I believe that the most important thing a tutor should have…

Most importantly, a tutor can encourage a love for learning that helps create the foundations of a successful student. By equipping students with the tools required to improve their…

The most important thing that you can do for a student is to encourage questions and curiosity, to foster a sense of ease and comfort in having doubts, as well as develop a healthy approach to learning in students. I ensure that my students find it easy to speak to me, and I encourage questions. I know that learning comes from a curated…

Motivating them is probably the most important, as students can be brilliant but fall behind quickly if they do not have the drive to improve. I think that a tutor also needs to have multiple different ways of approaching a question as a student might not be able to grasp a particular one. Furthermore, I believe that generically working through…

A tutor needs to be patient and build a healthy learning curve. One of the most important things for a tutor is to be encouraging and positive. Negativity can lead to resentment towards a subject and deflect the student from making a genuine effort to learn. A tutor also needs to be well-versed with the material so they can teach the student as…

A tutor's job is to fuel their students' love for learning, make them independent, and lend them a hand when it is needed. Encouragement and being able to explain concepts in a digestible manner are what makes a good tutor, but a great tutor checks in on students to make sure that they are thriving. It takes courage and self-reflection to find a tutor in the first place, so the least a tutor can do is make sure to give the tools for a student to make it on their…

Relatability is so important. We see a huge disconnect between teachers/tutors and students. I believe that an equal playing field with mutual respect creates a unique learning environment and nurtures encouragement. The student can see how the teacher got to where they are, and can realise that they, too, can learn these concepts just as those…

I think it is important for tutors to show patience and understanding towards students. It can be frustrating when one struggles to understand a new concept and I want to ensure that the student finds enjoyment in their work rather than a sense of dread toward it. Tutoring is not just about writing formulas on paper and solving equations. Tutoring is about connecting with the student, listening to them and understanding them. Only then a tutor can see what topics the students are struggling with and be able to help them. A tutor can go on and on and on for hours with a lot of knowledge base and high level…

To work with a happy and motivated student allows to improve and learn in a better way. That's why a good feeling with the child is very important. I found that once I contacted ezy math someone got back to me in a reasonable time frame. My daughter seems to be happy with the tutor that was picked. So far the experience has been great.
Rebecca, Chippendale

Inside ChippendaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Alice worked on operations with decimals and reviewed how to calculate area, using visual examples.

In Year 10, Tom focused on linear equations—finding equations given points or gradients—and practised simplifying fractions rules.

For Year 11, Ruby tackled financial mathematics with simple interest problems and explored arithmetic and geometric sequences using sigma notation.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12, one student left her calculator at home and struggled with trigonometry questions—"needs to be more prepared next time to bring calculator when having lesson," noted a tutor.

Meanwhile, in Year 8 algebra, incomplete homework meant confusion lingered over how variables interact; the set practice was not attempted before the next session.

A Year 11 student's tendency to write only final answers during financial maths revision ("did not show steps for rearranging formulas") led to missed errors and difficulty reviewing work later.

Each of these moments resulted in slower progress or repeated mistakes during lessons.

Recent Achievements

One Chippendale tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student who, after previously getting stuck on binomial expansion, now completes these problems solo and even applies the formulas to new case studies without prompting.

In Year 11, Paige has started initiating her own working on algebraic equations and makes far fewer calculation errors than before—she used to need constant reminders but now checks herself as she goes.

Meanwhile, a younger student who once hesitated to ask for help with fractions is now confidently spotting and correcting her own mistakes mid-task, recently fixing an error on her test entirely by herself.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Darling Square Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Inner Sydney High School.
