It is the ability of a good tutor to find a student’s hidden potential interests and support him to pursue what he really loves to do in life. A tutor can also make the learners feel motivated and enthusiastic to face the challenges that come along. My desire to help others which can bring a difference is the one I consider as my biggest…

A Tutor guides the student to find the answers for themselves rather than be the font of all knowledge. The student will become self reliant. Teaching a student how to learn is the most important. My strengths are in the one on one interaction with students. I can paraphrase well to adapt a problem into a situation that the student may relate…

Local Reviews

My son was not interested in having a tutor at all and wouldn't even acknowledge Alison on our first meet and greet. After their first tutoring session he has come out saying it was a lot funner then he thought it would be and admitted she was going to be very helpful to him to grasp concepts he struggles with. Alison has been kind and understanding and has made what we thought was going to be difficult situation into an easy enjoyable time for our son. Would definitely recommend her to friends and anyone thinking about engaging a tutor.

Inside Christies BeachTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Riley focused on long division up to three digits and began revising fractions, as well as exploring the relationships between percentages, decimals, and fractions.

Year 9 student Mia worked on quadratic factorisation using the quadratic formula and practiced expanding algebraic expressions.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Noah tackled trigonometry by finding missing angles and sides in triangles and reviewed simultaneous equations using both substitution and elimination methods.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student hesitated to begin assignments and often "froze" when faced with new topics, leading to lost time before she could make progress.

In Year 7 trigonometry, confusion over labelling triangle sides caused calculation errors until feedback was given.

One Year 6 student repeatedly second-guessed her times tables and rounding answers—her tutor observed that "if I don't respond straight away, she'll change her answer."

For a Year 4 learner, incomplete homework led to forgetting key steps in multiplication; as noted, missing practice meant "we moved backwards slightly as he had forgotten large components of the process in between sessions."

Recent Achievements

One Christies Beach tutor noted that a Year 10 student, Lara, has begun asking for help on specific exam topics rather than staying quiet when unsure—she recently relearned graphing parabolas and index laws and finished her assignment prep feeling ready to tackle it alone.

In Year 7, Sasha demonstrated a new level of independence by teaching the tutor an algebra method she'd just learned at school and confidently used it to solve problems without prompts.

Meanwhile, in primary, Nicole moved from struggling with rounding (scoring 0% on her pre-assessment) to achieving 75% in her most recent test after working through homework strategies together.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would love to offer some feedback on Derek. I discussed this response with Jaidan last night and he requested that I let you know that he thinks Derek is AWESOME. From my observations,Derek quickly created a great rapport with Jaidan which is important for effective communication. I have queried Jaidan after each session and feel that he is benefitting greatly from Derek's input. He is feeling more confident and very comfortable to source support from Derek. I could not ask for more at this stage so thank you and more importantly please thank Derek on my behalf.

For now, we won't be continuing but we haven't ruled it out for the future.  We were very happy with your service and Jade is a beautiful person!  She has helped Keegan with her confidence in Maths and helped improve her grade this year.  We postponed tutoring at the end of term 1 because Jade had covered as much as she could before introducing new work, which we didn't want to do until it came up in school.  Therefore, we had a break to see how Keegan went, and she's had no problems thus far. If any problems pop up this term, I plan to get in contact with you and Jade ASAP!

Aiden is really happy with Faraz. He felt a bit awkward the first week but the interactions were much better the second week. Aiden finds it very useful because he needs guided revision (it's not necessarily about learning the content). Definitely a good investment!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Noarlunga Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Christies Beach Primary School.
