1. Help them towards their study milestones so they have an unhindered path towards any given career of choice. 3. Understand something rather than memorising it. I hold this statement in significance. Having studied in different countries I understand the difference in teaching. Tutoring being 1 on 1 or in small groups allows for this. I…

It's the responsibility of a tutor to meet students where they are at. Tutors should come to learn the boundaries of what their students do and do not understand and create structure and context for pushing those boundaries to ultimately envelop the knowledge they need to succeed. This can sometimes mean "back-filling" missing knowledge or…

Inside Church PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Jack worked on understanding ratios and rates of change, tackling questions using real-world scenarios to strengthen application skills.

In Year 11, Sarah focused on linear relationships and simultaneous equations, building confidence through practice problems and constructing graphs from tables.

For Year 12, Tom completed exam-specific revision in financial mathematics—including annuities and compound interest—and also addressed normal distribution questions using HSC sample papers for targeted preparation.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student, when tackling normal distribution questions, relied on notes for reassurance and avoided timed conditions—"timed revision to improve speed" was flagged as a growth area.

In Year 9 algebra sessions, skipping details in multi-step problems led to small errors that weren't caught until review; "making sure to not miss details in question" became a recurring theme.

One Year 8 learner hesitated to try harder questions without first seeing similar examples, limiting exposure to new types.

During senior exam prep, careless mistakes crept in under time pressure, leaving some correct methods unrewarded on marked scripts.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Church Point recently noticed some great progress among students. One Year 11 student, who had previously struggled with algebra, is now able to construct complex equations independently—a real shift from needing constant guidance.

In a recent session, a Year 9 student arrived well-prepared and took the initiative to ask specific questions about topics they'd found confusing before, instead of staying quiet as they used to.

Meanwhile, a younger student quickly corrected mistakes from their internal exam after reviewing them together and then finished all similar practice problems without repeating earlier errors.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I find the monthly parent report very informative and am impressed with the standard of tutoring provided by Zev, not to mention his professionalism. If anybody was to ask me about student tutoring I would not hesitate to thoroughly recommend Ezymath tutoring!

Najib is making progress with Daniel and he feels more confident about tackling maths problems. I am sure Daniel will continue to improve under Najib's careful direction.

Before EzyMath, we had tried two different maths tutors for our son Mathew, they have been ok but not great.  I approached EzyMath because Mat wasn't really connecting with the tutors that we had sourced independently.  EzyMath put us in touch with Luke, a Uni student that lived close by. Luke was closer to Mat's age and related to him much better than just another adult telling him what to do.  Luke was flexible and would come on different days if Mat had a test that he needed to prepare for. The other thing that I love about EzyMath is that they do the character vetting for you, it's not just some random out of the paper that says they know how to teach Math.  We are thrilled with Mathew's new found confidence with this subject and would recommend EzyMath to anyone who needs a bit of extra help engaging with a subject and becoming more confident.  Happy kid is a happy parent!  Thank you EzyMath.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Mona Vale Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Luke's Grammar School, Bayview Campus.
