Software Dev Tutor Eatons Hill, QLD
If the tutor can give the student space to figure out the solutions to their problems and only step in once the student shows signs of struggling it is more beneficial for the student as this method will allow the student to learn to solve problems on their own. Local Reviews

We have found Ezymath tutoring very effective for our eldest son who is struggling in his maths class. Jon (tutorer) has been most helpful in firstly being able to assess his overall understanding and then being able to strategically challenge his thinking abilities. So far our son is really enjoying his tutoring lessons.

Inside CloseburnTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ruby worked on converting between units and practiced decimal addition and subtraction, then compared the size of different decimals and fractions.

Year 9 student Lucas focused on solving linear equations and interpreting intersection points using graphical methods.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Anjali revised index laws—specifically multiplying powers—and analyzed real-world scenarios involving graphs to deepen her understanding of applied algebra.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 Maths, a student sometimes avoided showing working for multi-step problems—she chose shortcut answers which worked for simple cases but led to errors on complex questions. This habit left mistakes hidden until review.

A Year 10 student preparing for an assessment struggled with planning written responses, often diving in without outlining key points first; as noted, he still needs to work on execution, which made editing harder later.

Meanwhile, in Year 2 English, reluctance to sound out unfamiliar words caused overwhelm when reading aloud. During these moments, the urge to guess or skip steps disrupted confidence and slowed improvement.

Recent Achievements

One Closeburn tutor recently noticed a Year 9 student who used to get stuck on fraction conversions now solving them independently and finishing her times tables in just two minutes, down from six.

In a senior session, another student who previously relied on prompts to expand brackets with the null factor law managed to do most steps alone before asking for help.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner who often hesitated to read aloud started volunteering to tackle new words herself during their reading activity and insisted on finishing all her sorting cards before moving on.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for your email received today. I am very pleased to report that we are very impressed with Minh and his approach to tutoring our son. Minh is a very responsible and passionate teacher, we feel his enthusiasm will promote Elijah-Taye to the required level in a reasonable time frame.

Thank you for your follow up.  Ty is progressing well and we are all happy with the way things are going (mum, dad and Ty).  Apart from the normal issues, that sometimes he just 'doesn't feel like it' at the beginning of the session, he enjoys the tutoring and is gaining benefits already.  Though Ty has always had quite a good understanding of Maths, the idea of tutoring was to keep him at his best.  He was complaining of not understanding his teacher this year, so the different ways of thinking and and ways of teaching are definitely helping. I am happy with Sheetal and his dedication to his tutoring, even ringing Ty to check his progress before an assessment.  This is not something that I was expecting, but is a welcome addition as I see it helping Ty keep focused as well.

Thanks for the email. We are very happy with Lisa. She is bright and keen and has established a very easy rapport with Xiao. Xiao actually really likes her. We feel very confident that Xiao will continue to make progress with her maths.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Albany Creek Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mount Samson State School.
