Science Tutor Stanwell Park, NSW
I consider the tutors passion and enthusiasm towards a subject can have a positive impact on how the student receives the information. When a tutor is enthusiastic on the content they are teaching, this transfers to the student. I am patient and try to break down complex content ideas into manageable ideas. From experience, I have learnt this is…

Science Tutor Thirroul, NSW
I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to tailor their approach, provide personalized attention, encourage and motivate, and build a relationship of trust. By adapting their teaching methods to suit the student, identifying areas where the student may be struggling and providing extra help and support where needed,…

Inside CoalcliffTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Alex worked through solving linear equations and practised Pythagoras' theorem using diagrams from past exam papers.

For Year 9, Olivia focused on revising quadratic equations—applying the quadratic formula and sketching parabolas to reinforce understanding.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ethan tackled trigonometry problems and logarithms, breaking down each step for clarity and reviewing key concepts ahead of his upcoming test.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student hesitated to complete homework and often relied on spell check rather than writing out spelling, leading to less confidence with new words—"he preferred to use the spell checker on his laptop than apply himself."

In senior maths, a Year 11 student struggled when older topics reappeared in advanced questions, forgetting key steps and becoming disoriented.

During algebra for Year 10, skipping steps and assuming pronumeral order stayed the same from question to question led to errors that weren't noticed until reviewing answers.

The emotional impact was clear: one session ended with visible frustration after repeated confusion with negative values.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Coalcliff noted a high school student who previously struggled with quadratic equations now independently applies the cross method for factorising, quickly spotting common factors without prompting.

Another secondary student, after making repeated errors on income tax calculations, was able to identify past mistakes and solve similar problems accurately when given new questions.

Meanwhile, a younger student who used to avoid reading aloud has started volunteering to read excerpts from new books each session, even tackling challenging words and syllables he once hesitated over. This week, he finished an unfamiliar chapter out loud with only minor corrections.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you so much for your assistance over the past months. Alex has progressed quite well and is getting more enjoyment out the subject given that he now has a better grasp of it.

Thank you for this.  We are extremely happy with Jason. He has a lot of patience with Sarah and  a genuine interest in helping her in Maths.  Sarah is slowly getting more confident in maths and this is a big step.

Thanks for the reports. Michael is fantastic. James and I both really like him and he is a very dedicated and diligent tutor.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Helensburgh Branch Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Stanwell Park Public School.
