Physics Tutor Banora Point, NSW
Not just tutor them, but be a friend. By opening up and developing a closer bond to students, the students feel more comfortable and it doesn't become a physics tutoring session, but just a study session. I went through the course(s) myself quite recently, so I understand what's expected on the students, and what they need to do to excel and not…

Physics Tutor Currumbin Waters, QLD
The most important things that a physics tutor can do for a student is understand how a student learns things whether it is through wrote learning and memorisation, visual or physical learning and from that be able to teach the student content through a learning type that is best for a student. - Confident - Presentable - Patient & chill -…

Physics Tutor Tweed Heads, NSW
Other than helping a student genuinely understand the content in their course, I think that the most important thing a physics tutor can do for them is to help them in developing and implementing strategies to allow them to become independently successful. This may mean developing a better organisational process, implementing a system for…

Create pathways so the student can figure things out on their own as the end goal is the personal development of the student. This can be by increasing their organisational skills or better interpreting questions. Good people skills and able to connect and relate to students. Active teaching methods, asking a lot of questions and creating…

Physics Tutor Burleigh Waters, QLD
I believe that a tutor must guide the student to learn independently by introducing different methods and techniques to learn. This is because an hour or two of supervised study in a week is not sufficient to learn and excel in a subject. Further, in this modern world with ever expanding technology there are many avenues to study and learn the…

Shubh tutored my son Travis in Term 4 for maths. Travis is in Year 7. We saw a remarkable improvement in Travis' overall attitude to school, not just in maths and we beleive Shubh played a big part in this. Thank you Shubh

Inside Cobaki LakesTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Willow focused on **operations with fractions**, including simplifying, converting between mixed numbers and improper fractions, and solving written fraction problems.

In Year 9, Jeremy worked through **Pythagoras' theorem** and measurement geometry, reviewing exam topics such as area, perimeter, and volume of shapes.

For Year 10, Mia covered **algebra fundamentals**—like solving one-variable equations—while also practising how to interpret scatterplots and identify relationships in data sets using real examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student came to a session underprepared for advanced exam questions, having only revised basic content—"I wasn't ready for the in-depth problems," they admitted, which meant time was spent re-covering fundamentals instead of tackling challenging tasks.

In Year 10 algebra, another student's working out was messy and skipped steps, making it difficult to spot sign errors ("needs to improve ability to explain working out").

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student avoided written responses and relied heavily on verbal answers during technology issues; as noted, "to improve would be to test her spelling and grammar by writing her answers down."

Recent Achievements

One Cobaki Lakes tutor noticed Jeremy, a high school student, now reliably checks his algebra work for errors and corrects them himself—when they first started, he'd rush through problems and miss key steps.

Willow, also in high school, recently completed a Grade 7 fractions worksheet independently after struggling with the topic earlier in the term; she's begun converting fractions without prompting to make calculations easier.

Meanwhile, Bella in primary has started proofreading her written responses on her own rather than handing them straight in—last session, she caught and fixed three grammar mistakes before submitting her paragraph.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

It's got off to a great start, Beaux really likes Taran and she likes the way Taran explains things and shows her new ways of working things out. Taran has boosted her confidence and Beaux is actually able to do a lot more than we thought.

We are very happy with Thai and the tutoring set up. Massimo and Thai have established a comfortable routine and it appears to be working for everyone involved. I can see that Massimo's confidence has already improved and he has regained his motivation.

It's all going really well Beaux breezed through a recent test of percentages that she and Tara had covered and which she had previously struggled with before. I will certainly recommend you to anyone who may need tutoring.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Elanora Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Augustine's Parish Primary School.
