It is important to help the student build their confidence in their learnings especially as an independent individual, so that they can face other struggles they encounter over and beyond the classroom and private tuition they receive. I am able to identify the weakness in the students to assist and help them overcome their difficulties in…

Establishing a supportive and positive environment where the student does not hesitate to express himself. Tailoring teaching methods to fit each student's learning style and pace. Recognition of the student's efforts and hence instilling a sense of confidence and fulfilment in him/her. As a tutor, my strengths lie in my adaptable approach to…

Apart from solely the academic component of teaching, there is a humanitarian element that I really enjoy. I think teaching the course content optimally and elevating your student's understanding is objectively the most important role as an economics tutor. However, I truly believe that providing an uplifting and entertaining class atmosphere for…

To me the most important thing an economics tutor can do for a student is to build confidence in them. A tutor can help a student in developing confidence, bringing their inner strength out, overcoming their secret fear, injecting good morals for future life. As a tutor I am always dedicated, understanding, reliable and open to students. I like…

Able to provide extra teaching in a positive manner that encourages the student to learn and not to downgrade them because of their failure to understand I am often commended on my ability to create a positive environment by teachers and peers, so a strength of mine would definitely be the ability to encourage a student to do their best, opening…

A tutor should have the patience to teach a concept to a student and focus on practicising that concept until the student is confident in the area of study. I am kind and very patient and will not be frustrated if a student does not understand the concept the first, 2nd 3rd time. I have experience as a student of private tutoring and I understand…

Inside ColytonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Aiden reviewed simplifying ratios and tackled a range of ratio word problems, including real-life examples.

Year 9 student Emily worked on solving linear equations and interpreting box-and-whisker plots using recent class data sets.

For Year 10, Sarah focused on calculating income tax and Medicare levy in financial mathematics, followed by applying tree diagrams to solve probability scenarios drawn from textbook exercises.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's written work in algebra often missed steps, making it hard to trace errors—"she doesn't write down all the steps of her working out," noted a tutor. This led to difficulty checking answers and building confidence with substitution and equations.

In Year 10, another student relied heavily on entering equations into the calculator but made input errors when not talking through their process aloud.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 learner sometimes rushed question reading and struggled to pick out what was needed, which meant misinterpreting key parts of worded maths problems during practice sessions.

Recent Achievements

In Colyton, a Year 11 student made a significant leap by moving from relying on hints to independently checking her own work after each problem. This shift was especially notable when tackling trigonometry formulas, an area where she previously hesitated.

During a Year 9 session, a student who once guessed at ratio problems began openly asking for clarification. After seeking help, the student successfully explained why specific ratios were applied in context, showing deeper understanding.

A Year 4 learner who used to skip steps now writes out all their working for every maths question. This consistent approach has led to fewer mistakes and greater accuracy overall.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

The ezymaths company was professional to deal with, our tutor was punctual and very knowledgeable and generally a very nice person. Our tutor identified by the second lesson the areas my daughter needed to focus on and from this time she has been addressing these areas. My daughter enjoys her tutoring sessions now.

Anishaa and I have been very happy with Luke's teaching methods.  He makes it interesting and helps her in areas that she needs assistance in.  Luke has a good knowledge and is doing a fantastic job with Anishaa.  Thank you  for the help you have given with an excellent tutor.

Everything is great so far. Danica actually likes having a tutor. She was not keen on the idea at first but now she loves it and Lewis is great.
