I think the most important is to follow the students lead. They will often know their weaknesses and from spending time working with them, you can take note of possible areas of improvement. However, at the end of the day you are there to help the student so by listening and communicating effectively both parties will be satisfied. The ability to…

A tutor must be able to deliver the contents of a subject clearly and be receptive to all doubts and concerns a student may have without being judgemental. I strongly value being an approachable person who can engage students and make learning an enjoyable experience. Having interests that lie in a range of fields including art and science, I am…

Some of the most important things a student can gain from having a tutor would be to build up their confidence in a certain subject, by providing specialised teaching and education for that specific student, to increase their understanding. A tutor would also provide a different perspective of difficult concepts, being seperated from the…

The most important thing when tutoring is personalizing each lesson on a student by student basis. It is essential the tutor understand the student so that they can relate topics, see their strengths and weakness, and ensure the student feels comfortable and in a safe environment. When tutoring students I find it is important to be able to…

A tutor should be able to understand the exact problems the student has regarding the study material. That is the level of confidence and comprehension that a student should receive during a tutoring session. An effective study…

To ensure the student feels that they can ask any question (relatable preferably) and not feel that is a "silly question". I also think it is important to ensure the tutor has a plan/ is organised so that the student too knows that is the plan/ aims and goals that are being set. I am compassionate when teaching, I like to make the student feel…

It is a necessity for a tutor to establish rapport with their students. As someone who has had tutors in the past; I can say with confidence that a tutor allows the student to catch up on what they didn’t understand in school the first time. Some topics are just harder than others.Unfortunately, most schools won’t slow down for each individual student just because they’re having a hard time. A tutor can enable a…

A tutor's role is not to lead the student's journey in achieving their goal, rather a tutor needs to help provide that extra support and guidance to students so that they can chart their own paths. Inside CoolbellupTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Chloe focused on reading comprehension strategies and converting fractions to decimals and vice versa, using practical examples.

In Year 8, James practised factorisation by taking out common factors and worked through index laws with step-by-step problem solving.

For Year 10, Olivia revised surface area of prisms including portions and calculated the volume of solids such as cylinders, applying formulas to real-world shapes.

Recent Challenges

A Year 3 student was encouraged to write her working and thoughts on paper, rather than relying on mental calculations—this made her steps clearer but also revealed where logic went astray in worded maths questions.

In Year 7, overthinking often slowed down progress; as one tutor noted, "he broke up the question into too many parts and lost track of what was needed."

A Year 11 student struggled with planning ahead for assessments: forgetting exam dates led to last-minute study attempts instead of steady revision.

When homework or practice questions were left incomplete, gaps in understanding lingered until next session.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Coolbellup noticed a Year 11 student who used to rush through worded problems now pauses to underline key information before solving, which has led to fewer mistakes in her recent assessments.

In Year 9 maths, another student who previously avoided factorisation questions started using palm cards for the index laws and successfully worked through factorising expressions on her own this week.

A younger student, Year 5, who struggled with reading comprehension is now able to identify the main idea in short texts without prompting and recently read an entire GATE sample passage aloud without stumbling.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I just wanted to let you know that Mila is very happy with her new tutor Amelia. She told me after her lesson tonight that Amelia is really helping her a lot, and that she is understanding concepts more clearly and feeling more confident in class and while doing homework.

I chose to work as a tutor with EzyMath whilst completing my university studies in order to gain valuable work experience and to also help others within mathematics which I have a strong passion for. I have only positive experiences with EzyMath Tutoring through their on-going support when starting out as a tutor, the continuous learning provided through their tutoring modules and online resources and the process they use when contacting a client. My biggest accomplishment whilst working as a tutor with EzyMath was seeing students improve immensely in there grades and also being able to assist the students with their own personal goals in regards to mathematics. Personally whilst working as a tutor I became more confident, organised, patient and developed the ability to explain complex concepts using easy-to-understand terms. EzyMath Tutoring is a fantastic organisation to work with and for students who are struggling within maths to become a part of.

So far we are happy with Stella Ananya is feeling more comfortable With her every week. Stella has been able to help her with general homework questions as well so that's fantastic for us.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Coolbellup Public Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Coolbellup Community School.
