I feel the most important thing that a tutor can do is to listen to the students as they explain what they don't understand and to help fully explain the solution of the problem to the student and to verify that the students understands the new concepts. I am patient with the students and I can work through many examples with the student until he…

Inside CoonawarraTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Elise focused on multiplying fractions and converting mixed numbers, then practiced reading comprehension using short passages.

Year 10 student Amelie worked through quadratic equations, including finding roots and using the discriminant, before reviewing key concepts for her upcoming test.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Michael tackled algebraic expressions and equations as well as vocabulary exercises, addressing any areas he found challenging in recent classwork.

Recent Challenges

In Year 6 English, one student repeatedly arrived at sessions with unfinished homework, resulting in lesson time spent catching up rather than moving forward—"we too often lose a lot of time during the lesson finishing work that should have already been completed."

For a Year 10 Maths student, written calculations were often unclear and scattered across the page; as noted, "both of us struggled to understand it," which made revision much harder.

Meanwhile, a senior student's tendency to use calculators early and provide answers in incorrect formats cost marks on recent assessments.

Confidence wavered after setbacks in algebra proofs—hesitation slowed progress and led to repeated checking instead of learning new content.

Recent Achievements

During a Coonawarra tutoring session, Amelie independently corrected her maths test mistakes for the first time, demonstrating new self-reliance.

Elise has made progress by outlining every step of multi-step solutions aloud, overcoming previous hesitation to engage with tricky problems.

Michael in Year 5 expanded his short story on his own initiative, moving beyond reliance on tutor support.

Last week, Amelie finished plotting hyperbolas unaided, having previously needed significant guidance for this challenge just two weeks earlier.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We found Rishabh to be very professional, reliable and prompt in replying to correspondence

My daughter Jasmine has been tutored by Thomas Ban in maths for the past few years. She recently was accepted into the gifted and talented class for year 7 at Stella Maris and also received an "Outstanding" grade (highest grade possible) for Maths this year. We just wanted to thank Thomas Ban for the wonderful work he has done with Jasmine this year. We feel that she has received these grades due to Thomas tutoring. He has challenged and pushed her to work harder and improve her maths. He is also extremely professional and courteous.

Aryo is very happy with Brittany and looking forward to see her which is a good start !
