I believe the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to develop the student to a place where they are achieving goals of which once seemed to be completely out of their reach. To embed an attitude of continual improvement and re-evaluation is my constant goal as a tutor, and one of which I believe should be the focal point of any…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to believe in their potential and provide unwavering support. When a tutor believes in their students abilities, it boosts their confidence and motivates them to strive for success. Additionally, a tutor should create a safe and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable…

Students may at times be overwhelmed by the amount of school work, so encouraging and giving them hope is key aside from all the actual work! Encouragement is key! Building a friendship to avoid intimidation. I am very approachable, invested but also fun! I love to help students but also adapt to different ways that best suits their style of…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to guide them towards a position of personal and academic growth. Irrespective of whether the students growth is minuscule or large, any sort of development should be rewarded. Thus, it is the role of a tutor to assist their student(s) to cultivate the ability to progress. I would say my…

Provide Feedback as it can encourage the student and allow them to feel more comfortable answering questions. Another crucial thing a tutor can do is ensure a student understands how to answer particular questions and teach ways to approach answering them, as students may know everything about a certain topic, however if they can't answer…

Inside Cranbourne WestTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Daniel focused on linear equations, solving them both algebraically and by constructing new equations from word problems.

In Year 11, Priya worked through probability topics, including multistage experiments and calculating event probabilities with and without replacement, using step-by-step tree diagrams for clarity.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Aiden tackled graph theory by drawing various types of graphs, exploring adjacency matrices, and practicing the application of Euler's formula to planar graphs.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student's algebra notes showed messy layout and uneven spacing, making it difficult to track equalities ("the way of writing, needs to be spaced and equality has to be one below the other").

Homework was incomplete, so gaps remained in mastering the four rules for solving equations.

In a senior Methods class, another student avoided writing full working for exponent questions, jumping straight to answers and missing subtle errors—this habit made it harder to spot patterns in mistakes.

During a Year 11 session on graphing with calculators, reliance on CAS meant that hand-drawn graphs were skipped or rushed, causing confusion when interpreting results without technology.

Recent Achievements

One Cranbourne West tutor noted a Year 10 student who, after initially skipping steps in algebraic simplification, now works methodically through each stage without prompting and has started trying multiple solution strategies.

In a recent Year 12 session, a student who previously relied on her calculator for every calculation surprised her tutor by confidently completing gradient problems entirely by hand—a big step towards exam independence.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 student who used to hesitate when tackling worded maths questions has begun breaking statements into manageable chunks and forming equations herself, finishing the lesson by solving several on her own without needing hints.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I personally feel that my biggest accomplishment was becoming a more confident individual with strong leadership. This is as I was a mentor to my students whom all looked up to me and I felt more mature and responsible in helping them deal with their academic difficulties. Furthermore, Tutoring also helped me in organisation and time management in allocating tutoring timeslots as well as homework marking into my daily lifestyle. This is truly reflected in my full-time career now where I am able to handle multiple tasks and commitments very effectively. I had been previously been tutoring privately and felt it would be beneficial for me to tutor for an agency in order to attain professional recognition for my resume and future. During my interview process, my tutoring experience definitely weighed into me attaining a graduate role. The main reason I tutor and have been tutoring for such a long time now is the self-satisfaction I get back from helping others. I love relaying knowledge to others who are willing to learn and feel emotionally rewarded when it helps my students academically excel. I would recommend Ezy Math to everyone (tutors and potential clients) as they're very easy to deal with and educate their tutors with ongoing modules as well as provide supplementary materials to their clients.

Based on the sessions held to date with Ai-linh, Nathan is really enjoying her teaching style. From my perspective she is really sweet and is always punctual and consistent which has really maximised Nathan's learning and our ability to plan for effectively. Thank you for arranging for Ai-linh to assist Nathan.

Thank you for finding a new tutor so fast. I just want to let you know that even the very first session with James a great success. He is very competent, explains thins very clearly. Both of my children enjoyed it.
