In my opinion the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to help them reach their goals. Whether that may be to help them catch up in certain subjects, to reach for top marks for their desired high school or university or in need of motivation to study in creating habits. I believe that the most important thing will be for the tutor…

I think a tutor needs to be encouraging so that students can develop positive attitudes towards their studies, as that will help them succeed on their own. Furthermore it is important for a tutor to be a consistent resource for information that is relevant to their individual hurdles in learning a subject. I believe I am able to communicate the…

I believe empowerment is one single most important aspects a tutor can bring to a student's live. I have oftentimes seen students who are lost and have almost given up on their desire to learn a new topic. In these situations, it is crucial to approach such students with a massive smile on your face and listen to their issues and expectations in…

To help them reach their potential and evoke their interests on studying. In addition, teach them the way to organise their study rather than organise studies and tell them the result directly. I have got some very good result for math during my study in high school, and I love helping students by teaching the process of problem solving rather…

Make them feel comfortable enough to ask any kind of questions and the aim is that they feel confident in problem solving and tackling unfamiliar problems with ease. From my experience, the most impactful lesson a tutor can teach a student is how to research and study on his own in the long run. As Greg Reid once said, "A dream written down with a date becomes a goal. A goal broken down into steps becomes a plan. A plan backed by action makes dreams come true." Therefore, I firmly believe that although…

I think that the most important things that a tutor can do for a student would be to inspire them to love the subjects that they take and study, to be able to inspire them to do their work and really work at it in their own time, such that the tutoring isn't a dependency but a supplement to their success. Once that's achieved, it becomes much…

Inside Cremorne PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Xander focused on trigonometric ratios and reviewing concepts from his recent maths exam to reinforce understanding of key topics.

In Year 7, Soraya worked through past paper questions covering algebraic factorisation and quadratic equations, with an emphasis on both the quadratic formula and completing the square.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student practiced rounding numbers as well as using visual aids to understand fractions, building confidence in core numeracy skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths, Charlie needed to look back at notes often for trigonometric ratios and equations not provided in exams—this slowed her down during problem-solving and risked gaps if resources weren't available.

In a Year 10 session, one student hesitated with algebraic problem solving, "deferring instead to decimals" when unsure, which meant missed opportunities to build confidence with unfamiliar techniques.

A Year 7 student sometimes left homework incomplete or prioritized easier addition problems over those involving carrying; as noted, "she completed long addition questions that did not need carrying." This led to less practice with the challenging skills required for tests.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Cremorne Point noticed Charlie, a high school student, now tackles past exam papers almost entirely on his own—he used to rely on his notes but recently completed a whole paper independently and highlighted key points for revision.

Soraya, also in high school, demonstrated a big shift by not just solving area questions quickly but explaining her reasoning aloud without prompting; previously she hesitated to share her thought process.

In primary, Xander struggled with number sentences last week but this time answered every one correctly after extra practice, showing real improvement in accuracy and self-correction.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

The tutoring is proving beneficial and enjoyable, and we are keen to continue with Jessica if she is also happy to continue.

Cordelia is very happy with Rory's tutoring.  Rory has certainly been a big help.

Thank you for your amazing service.  Mitchell has had two great tutors and his competence with his maths has amazed his classroom teacher.  I have been very happy to recommend you to other parents at school.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Stanton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Loreto Kirribilli.
