I think the most important thing would be to truly listen to a student, not only to hear him/her, but to actually listen. Indeed, I believe a student will never improve if they don't want to. Thus, I think it is the tutor's duty to make the student interested in the subject, to make it fun and as easy as possible, and that goes through the…

Provide a safe space for the student to make mistakes without judgement. They don’t always have this at school with their peers looking on. Provide high level materials that don’t just duplicate those from school or in generic books. I think the most important thing a tutor can do is tailor their approach to accomodate for the needs of a student. I also think it is incredibly important to offer both academic support and assurance, particularly when a student lacks academic confidence. A lot of the time, errors or poor performance are rooted in students' hesitance and belief…

I consider empathising with the student the most important thing a tutor can do for a student. The most important things that a tutor can do for a student, in my opinion, are motivating the students to learn on their own as well as arming them with the tools and study skills. The motivation to learn is critical, since the tutor can teach the material, but at the end of the day, it is the student who has to master it. Without such…

Tutors can be a crucial part of a student's academic success. The most crucial things a tutor may accomplish for a student are: Provide moral support and direction: A tutor should be a source of inspiration for the student, offering them a sympathetic ear, encouraging feedback, and mentorship when it comes to their academic work. Help the…

Inside Cremorne PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Xander focused on trigonometric ratios and reviewing concepts from his recent maths exam to reinforce understanding of key topics.

In Year 7, Soraya worked through past paper questions covering algebraic factorisation and quadratic equations, with an emphasis on both the quadratic formula and completing the square.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student practiced rounding numbers as well as using visual aids to understand fractions, building confidence in core numeracy skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Maths, Charlie needed to look back at notes often for trigonometric ratios and equations not provided in exams—this slowed her down during problem-solving and risked gaps if resources weren't available.

In a Year 10 session, one student hesitated with algebraic problem solving, "deferring instead to decimals" when unsure, which meant missed opportunities to build confidence with unfamiliar techniques.

A Year 7 student sometimes left homework incomplete or prioritized easier addition problems over those involving carrying; as noted, "she completed long addition questions that did not need carrying." This led to less practice with the challenging skills required for tests.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Cremorne Point noticed Charlie, a high school student, now tackles past exam papers almost entirely on his own—he used to rely on his notes but recently completed a whole paper independently and highlighted key points for revision.

Soraya, also in high school, demonstrated a big shift by not just solving area questions quickly but explaining her reasoning aloud without prompting; previously she hesitated to share her thought process.

In primary, Xander struggled with number sentences last week but this time answered every one correctly after extra practice, showing real improvement in accuracy and self-correction.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Just wanted to let you know that i am very impressed with Angus. If you could have all your staff as good as hime you would be close to retirement. He is extremely thorough, knowledgeable and he is very engaging. Hopefully Amy can take advantage of his knowledge. Thanks

Ezy Math is one of the most professional tutoring agencies I have worked for. The time and effort it put into it's tutors and the feedback they provide to students and their families is to be admired. Tutoring is a very rewarding experience. Being able to see those precious 'Ahh'Âť moments daily is a gift.

Thanks so much for the follow up!! Daniel is fantastic and Tom is really enjoying his time with him!! He said he understood more after 2 hours than his first semester of Chemistry!! Really happy and so is Tom!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Stanton Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Loreto Kirribilli.
