A tutor's primary role is to help students grasp and master the subject matter. This involves breaking down complex concepts, providing clear explanations, and using various teaching methods to cater to the student’s learning style. Ensuring the student truly understands the material is crucial for their academic success. It's also important…

When I tutor students, I tend not to follow the same pattern or process of learning for every kid. I believe tutor can play huge role in a student’s life when it comes to teaching them how to fish rather than serving the fish. The ability to remain calm and composed in any situation I think is my biggest strength. Having to deal with kids who…

A tutor is not the people to teach academic content. Tutor can encourage the students to build the better life. Tutor is just not the people to help solving math equation, they can guide to solve the problems that the students face in their life. I love being questioned by my students again and again and i never found myself being irritated with…

One of the most important things that a tutor, or any teacher, can do for a student is be there for them. By this, I mean tutors should be encouraging, supportive and understanding of students, as students can often have their downfalls (for instance, if they don't do as well as they hoped for in their exam). At times like this, students must be…

Encouragement/Motivation. The effort you put in may not always be reflected in the marks you receive, so often people lose motivation at the site of this. As a tutor it is important to highlight the things that the student did well in as well as the areas they can improve upon. Encouragement and motivation can help the student(s) push through…

Truly listening to a student's needs and being flexible enough to alter plans for a lesson. Also, it is important to be patient and acknowledge that not everyone grasps concepts at the same rate, and being willing to repeat concepts again for the student to understand. I am honest about the progression of a student and tell them about what they…

Inside CronullaTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Thomas practised finding the volume of cubes and rectangular prisms, then worked on calculating area for irregular shapes using example diagrams.

For Year 8, Charlie tackled geometry with angles on parallel lines—identifying co-interior, alternate, and corresponding types—and solved problems involving exterior angles of triangles.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Emily reviewed algebra techniques by solving simple quadratic equations and explored linear relationships through hands-on equation work.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student working on advanced trigonometric identities tended to practise only familiar, single-step problems; as a tutor observed, "she avoided combining concepts when faced with harder questions." This limited her exposure to the type of multi-step problems seen in exams.

Meanwhile, in Year 7 mathematics, one student's handwritten work was described as messy and difficult to read—particularly during long division tasks—which made it hard for both tutor and student to spot errors or track progress.

In senior Ancient History, a student left source collection until after writing drafts; this meant scrambling to find evidence instead of building arguments from sources at the outset.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in {SUBURB} noticed a Year 11 student who previously struggled to connect historical sources with essay questions is now confidently linking evidence to rubric points and applying different perspectives in practice essays.

In Year 9 maths, one student moved from hesitating over algebraic patterns to independently solving single-variable equations—she even started recognising recurring structures without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who used to avoid tricky addition problems now volunteers for the hardest ones and explains her method out loud before using counters. Last session, she finished all ten worded problems without any errors.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Hi Erica, Yes all seems to be going well with Sean's tutoring. He responds well to Andy. Thanks

I came to work for Ezy Math towards the end of my first year of university to gain more experience for my degree and resume, and to keep an on-going job with other jobs which came and went over the years. I was able to deal with various teaching and learning situations which have informed the way I deal with students in the classroom. I'm much more articulate and authoritative when dealing with potentially difficult situations. In terms of expectations, I'm able to plan, organise and set expectations of students' goals as a result of some bad experiences which, overall, have contributed to my own skills as a teacher/tutor. I would recommend Ezy Math to students who need help. To other tutors, sometimes it may be tough, and students may be difficult, but overall the experience is great and you'll learn a lot about being an independent worker and developing interpersonal skills which you'll need for future jobs and later years of university. It is particularly rewarding with students - seeing improvements about the way they view and approach Math as a subject, and even enjoying it as a subject. For clients, Ezy Math tutors will work with you to help your child's needs. In the long term, I know that the process of tutoring with Ezy Math should assist or allow you to better understand your child's learning needs. Overall,  Ezy Math gave me starting experience which over the years has lead to other jobs. Now I continue to private tutor, and work with particular tutoring companies which cater to selective school students. I started as a first year and now I'm in 4th year honours student. I think that Ezy Math is a great way to start off and a great way to learn responsibility and job balance as a first, second or even third year university student.

Everything is travelling smoothly with Rebecca and Hollie and I'm looking forward to them getting back into it this week.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Cronulla Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Cronulla Public School.
