Modern History Tutor Shell Cove, NSW
Although my goal is to see them be at the top of their class, it is more important to see improvements in their tutor lessons and use the knowledge I give them at school to refine their skills I am very easy going and I have a lot of patience. So I am good with kids that are struggling to understand. I use the 4 predominant learning styles:…

In my experience tutoring students, as well as being a student myself, I believe a person needs to do four main things in order to be a good tutor; they need to be able to assess what their students are lacking, know what you can do to improve on their skills, communicate well, and boost the overall confidence of the student and the confidence…

Modern History Tutor Albion Park, NSW
The most important things a tutor can do for the student is to really get to know the strengths and weaknesses of the student. In identifying the strengths you can use these to help improve the weaker areas of learning. My strengths are being a patient and well resourced tutor. I’m finishing hsc last year I am up to date with knowledge of…

Inside CurramoreTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ava focused on simplifying ratios and solving ratio problems from her classwork, using step-by-step examples.

In Year 10, Ethan revised algebra basics and surds through pre-test questions to strengthen his foundational skills.

For Year 11, Laaibah worked through network concepts such as shortest path and minimum spanning trees, tackling exam-style problems with diagrams to prepare for assessment tasks.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11, a recurring obstacle was incomplete or missing homework—such as financial maths assignments and network diagrams—which limited the chance to address gaps before assessments.

In Year 9, "she skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors," so her written work became hard for markers to follow and correct.

A Year 12 student tackling HSC finance questions often relied on calculators but avoided setting out calculations line-by-line; this made it difficult to spot where misunderstandings crept in.

Across several grades, not reading worded problems carefully led to misinterpreting what was being asked—especially with multi-step ratio and trigonometry tasks.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Curramore recently noticed a Year 10 student who used to skip working out is now consistently showing each step for ratio problems, which has helped her catch errors before submitting answers.

A Year 11 student demonstrated a shift from relying on hints to independently completing several challenging network and critical path analysis questions—something she hesitated with previously.

In Year 6, one student who struggled to explain how she solved area questions can now clearly talk through her reasoning while working, showing more ownership of her process. Last session, she finished all assigned problems without needing prompts.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Ivana is really on to where Ethan's weaknesses and strengths are and works on them. The report is very thorough and I see/agree with her feedback. She really knows where he is at. It's great areas can be targeted and some are quick and some take longer to consolidate. We are very happy with Ivana and appreciate all her efforts!

Padma and Pearl have made a good connection and are working well together. She arrives on time, is very focussed and very good at engaging Pearl. Padma also really knows her maths and I think this has helped pearl feel more confident about doing math.

Stephanie is working out well and is supporting Harrison in a way that is having an impact. She is great and happy to work with her.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Albion Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Jamberoo Public School.
