The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to let the students enjoy and appreciate the lesson. Only then, they will be able to understand and excel in the subjects. I am really good at identifying the difficulty that a student face and guide him or her on how he can overcome the situation. Many a times, students are not meeting his…

He/She can secure the future of kid. Kids are like tender flowers so it is important to handle them with care. A tutor not only can help in passing the knowlegde but also can help him/her understand the life experience which he/she has seen till now. Students generally ask why we are reading particular topic then in that case we need to make sure…

A tutor can clearly identify the strengths and weaknesses of students and guide them accordingly. He should focus on the strengths and minimise their weaknesses. This is very important as it gives a clear direction to the students. This can also help them realise what career path would be good for them. A tutor should also be able to help students…

As a tutor, it is your obligation to teach in a way that your pupil develops a passion for the topic he is learning. There is nothing worst than somebody who is bored while learning. Focusing on deeply understanding and on practical application is key to awaken a desire to continue learning. "If you can't explain it to a six year old, you don't…

The most important thing would be to create a safe space for students, so they will feel welcomed and understood. This can build their confidence as well. Once they feel safe, the students can ask any question and tutor can help them and fill their knowledge gap. My strength would be perseverance, adaptability, and emphaty. I would try and give…

Be patient. Tutors cannot expect students to understand or get the question right the first time. It is important for tutors to understand where the student went wrong and to slowly and easily correct them by following the question. Once they grasped an understanding, tutors should give the student similar questions to practice so they are…

A tutors primary task is to help the student with what they want to be helped with, and as a part of that accommodating to their individual needs and goals. Doing anything else would simply be disingenuous. It is worth noting further that accommodating to the student's needs in any way reasonable is quite close to the most important thing a tutor…

I think the most important thing a tutor can offer to a younger student is their experience, similar to that of a mentor. Beyond course content, tutors can draw from their study, career and life experiences to help the student navigate their path. I am proud of my ability to teach and explain concepts to others effectively and thoroughly, which I…

I believe that the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to not teach them how to answer a specific question but to ensure they understand the logic behind the answering methodology. I suspect that this may be hard for some students at first but I am confident that they will be able to get the most out of mathematics and other…

Building a caring relationship in my opinion is the most important thing a tutor can do for any student. I believe a tutor can make all the difference to a student struggling with their studies. School teaching can often be mechanical and impersonal; an environment where some students find it difficult to learn. I know first hand that teaching in smaller groups or one-on-one works is much more effective at learning hard to grasp concepts. The impact…

Building the trust between the tutor and the student is what I believe it is most important. The most important things a tutor can do for a student is act as a motivation for them to achieve their personal best. They must act as a pillar that can support their…

Learning can be spilt into 3 parts. First being simply understanding the content without worrying about exams. Second being revising and coming up questions possible from the content and getting a deeper understanding. Third is looking at the exam questions and how to form the answer to get maximum marks. We are very happy with Amanat. My son enjoys his sessions with him and that is a huge indicator for me as a parent. Amanat is so lovely and approachable with any questions I have and I like his commitment to my sons learning even though he is busy himself, nothing is ever an issue. I would recommend your business to other people and especially Amanat.

Inside Darling PointTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Alex focused on multiplication facts for the 2 and 3 times tables and practised telling time using an analogue clock.

In Year 9, Mia worked on algebraic techniques such as proving for x and completing the square, alongside general revision of key algebra skills.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student James explored logarithms and exponentials by working through targeted practice questions to build confidence with these advanced concepts.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11 Chemistry, hesitation with back titration and conductivity questions meant responses lacked clarity; as one tutor observed, "she was unable to phrase this concept succinctly and with clarity."

During a Year 8 algebra session, skipping the setup steps in equations led to confusion when isolating variables.

Meanwhile, a Year 2 student's heavy reliance on finger counting for addition delayed her progress with numbers above ten.

In a Year 6 writing task, strong ideas were held back by incomplete inclusion of research—answers existed verbally but weren't written down. Each moment reflected the struggle to transfer thought into clear, independent written work.

Recent Achievements

One Darling Point tutor noticed a high school student who had struggled with pH calculations now tackling multi-step chemistry problems and clearly explaining her approach, something she was hesitant to do before.

Another secondary student who used to rush through subtraction has started pausing to check her work and even created her own step-by-step method for column subtraction, showing real ownership of the process.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 student who previously relied heavily on finger counting has begun adding numbers mentally up to 20 and recently completed a full worksheet without needing physical aids.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Double Bay Central Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Double Bay Public School.
