I believe a tutor should foster a positive learning environment for a student, in which the student feels comfortable discussing any issues they are having with the tutor. I feel that as a tutor, your core responsibility is to place the needs of the child first, and do whatever you can to fulfill these needs, even if it does involve putting in…

Local Reviews

Hi, Toby has finished year 12 and had a successful exam (I think!) and year. I really appreciate Tom's tutoring and he has a real knack for it! I certainly don't think Toby would have done so well without his support. I want to thank Ezy maths for being there and having Tom available. Thanks heaps! I would recommend Tom and easy maths to anyone at any level. Cheers Josh

Inside DawesleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Jacob focused on using first principles to differentiate functions with square roots, and practiced identifying anti-derivatives by differentiating expressions for integration problems.

Year 11 student Olivia worked through finding unknown parameters in binomial distributions and revised discrete random variables, including event probabilities across independent Bernoulli trials.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ethan tackled algebraic manipulation of trigonometric expressions and equations, as well as examining the relationship between a function and its derivatives—paying special attention to both polynomials and rational functions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 12 student in Dawesley struggled with quickly translating multi-step derivations onto paper during test-like conditions—one tutor noted, "It's one thing to figure it out as you go. It's another thing to quickly smash a derivation out in a test setting."

A Year 10 student's layout of solutions was sometimes "convoluted and confusing," making it harder to track errors or present clear logic under pressure.

At the primary level, a Year 4 learner needed more confidence when tackling new fraction concepts; hesitancy led to second-guessing even on straightforward questions, slowing overall progress.

Recent Achievements

One Dawesley tutor noticed a Year 11 student who had previously hesitated with calculus now confidently using sign diagrams to identify intervals of increase and concavity, even sketching graphs without prompting.

In another session, a Year 10 student who used to guess through algebra questions has started breaking down complex problems independently and asking clarifying questions when stuck, showing real initiative.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who often waited for reassurance before answering is now tackling worded maths problems on her own, picking out key information and choosing operations correctly—last week she solved several multi-step questions unaided.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I've not actually met Tevita myself but both Ashleigh and my husband Adam have nothing but good things to say about him.  Ashleigh is very happy with his tutoring so far and seems to have a better understanding of the maths subjects she is doing.

We are very impressed with Jason and Scott enjoys the sessions with him which is great. Thanks.

Tim has now had 3 sessions with Dean and so far it seems to be a positive experience. Tim enjoys his company and understands the way he explains things , I guess this is a good place to start and hopefully it will continue to build into a rewarding learning experience.
