The most important thing a tutor could do for a student is show them that every student responds to education in the same way or at the same pace and whichever way they process information is perfectly normal. The goal is to maximize learning, in the way that works best for the students. I have seen this significantly reduce academic frustrations…

I think the greatest gift a tutor can provide to a student is support. School can often be an isolating and intimidating experience, and often students, despite being remarkably talented, feel afraid to take risks and go beyond what is expected of them. A tutor can also make the learning experience far more rewarding and enjoyable. Students feel…

I believe that the most important attribute for a tutor to have to understand their student. As a recent high graduate, I found that the people around me; my teachers' and peers' ability to understand my specific conditions with vital for to get through the HSC. The most important things I can provided to the student are an approachable, enriching learning environment. An enriching learning environment is like a petri-dish full of nutrients. The role of tutors is to help the students absorb as much of these 'nutrients' (i.e. knowledge and skills) as they can in an effective and enjoyable way. I believe my…

Motivation and confidence are two key elements of student success, if I can support them in achieving a sense of self-efficacy regarding these elements, they are bound to see improvement. Students often know where they fall short in their work, they just need motivation to improve those areas. Once they know that they can achieve this themselves,…

I consider relatability and patience to be key, with the positioning of topics in a manner easily understood central in the better understanding of content. Tutoring can be challenging, especially when it comes to motivating your learner. I think to be dependable and reliable is the best thing for a student, so that they can feel safe with asking for help from their tutor. A student must first feel safe around their teacher so that they can more openly accept guidance and assistance. I consider myself a very friendly and approachable person. Inside Denistone EastTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Mada worked on understanding positive and negative integers before focusing on rates and ratios as covered in class.

In Year 8, Amelia spent time revising algebra skills and then practiced solving problems involving rates and ratios for her upcoming assessment.

For Year 11, Mey tackled exponential and logarithmic equations as well as integration techniques to prepare for an assessment task.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student did not complete her homework for two consecutive weeks, which meant lesson time was spent catching up instead of learning new concepts.

In Year 11, a student described struggling with test timing; as one tutor noted, "she needs to practice under timed conditions" to avoid unfinished exam sections.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 learner often skipped writing out working in algebra questions—leading to repeated sign errors that slowed progress.

A Year 10 student showed low confidence when facing multi-step word problems and hesitated to attempt unfamiliar formats, especially during area and perimeter tasks.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Denistone East noticed that one Year 11 student, who previously hesitated with trigonometric proofs, was able to independently prove identities by the end of the lesson—a real shift from needing step-by-step guidance before.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student started attempting harder algebra word problems on his own after usually sticking only to basics; he even asked for clarification when stuck instead of giving up.

In primary sessions, Alexis (Year 4) managed all her area and volume questions without mistakes and remembered her times tables clearly.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Since my daughter has been tutored by Ezy Math, she has improved significantly. At the end of last year she failed the yearly test and was ranked near the bottom of her year. Now after just 3 months of tutoring , she has achieved the highest mark in her class in the  half yearly exam. This has been a great boast to her confidence in addition to a great academic achievement. She knows now that she has the ability to do well in maths. Jessica is always very well prepared for all the sessions. During this time we went away on holidays and missed 3 weeks of school. Prior to leaving Jessica covered all the topics the school was doing to ensure that she did not get behind. We are extremely happy with Ezy Math Tutoring and  highly recommend them.

I was just writing to let you know that I got better than the grade I hoped for, so everything turned out great! I wanted to say thank-you for all of your help. I would not have been able to do this without you. Thanks so much.

After two months our son's marks in year 10 maths went from the fourties to the seventies. I think most tutors know their maths but our tutor is a wonderful communicator and talented educator whom we wish to retain through the HSC.
