A tutor is more than just one that imparts knowledge. Any textbook, podcast or Youtube Video can do that. The power of a good tutor is in his or her ability to strengthen and encourage their students, so helping them gain some momentum to keep persevering in subjects that are challenging them. This means patiently helping the students understand…
I think the most important thing a tutor can do is to teach a student how to pursue their own studies, that is, if I can teach a student how to study without the need for a tutor, that's worth more than tutoring them the whole year and it will serve them well for the rest of their life.
An excellent tutor will keep their students motivated and…
I can simplify learning materials to suit to the learning ability of the tutee and work on an approach that brings significant progress. I can easily identify areas of learning difficulties faced by a student and provide support according to tutee's ability to grasp the learning…
I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are to build their confidence, adapt to their individual learning style, and create a safe space where they feel comfortable asking questions. A tutor should not only help the student understand the subject, but also teach them how to think independently and approach challenges with…
Aside from helping students improve on their grades, I hope to inculcate values in my students. I hope to cultivate resilience in my students by letting them try, and not giving up when faced with tough problems. This is particularly important in Mathematics where students will encounter questions that may faze them. I am an understanding tutor…
to be patient with the student and let them feel encouragement while helping them to be able to understand a subject explaining a particular problem and getting the student to favour understanding rather than…
Although it is highly important that a tutor teaches their students the material covered in the syllabus, it is equally as important that the tutor teaches their students the tools required to succeed in a competitive academic environment. As a tutor, I instil in my students a great work ethic, teaching them highly effective study and time…
According to my experience, student need to get overall objective and subjective knowledge to compare ideal and non-ideal example of real world experience through tutor. The most important things as a tutor include being an expert on the subject and being able to explain in detail without unneccesary complexity, ensuring that the student understands the content fully and ensuring that learning is enjoyable. My past tutoring experience and my great marks in Mathematics means that I posses the ability to effectively…
The most important thing I can do for a student is to empower them to become an independent and confident learner. My approach centers on understanding each student's unique needs and learning style, creating a customized plan that targets their specific goals and challenges. By fostering a supportive and encouraging environment, I help students…
I feel that it is important for the tutor to help the student along their educational journey to understand the concepts that they learn in school and also allow them to be able to make sense out of it and apply it to daily life. Most students are unable to relate their academic knowledge to real-life scenarios and this often results in…
The tutor should understand his subject matter to be able to deliver complicated ideas to the students simply and concisely. If the tutor cannot do so, he should further his knowledge of that subject matter. I love to use descriptive and outside the box methods to understand mathematical concepts. Because school teaching is restrict by time, the…

A tutor can change a student's perspective towards studies and make difficult subjects easy for them. I always create a safe, respectful learning space where my students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. The most important thing a tutor can do is to provide a pillar of support both emotionally and academically so that students are able to rely on the tutor and not feel lost and dejected. Having the attitude to learn, patience and being a friend to accompany these students on their learning journey. As i am a student myself, i can relate to the…
I think the most important a tutor can do for a student is instill confidence in them which will allow them to flourish in any subject no matter how hard it is. There are many ways to help a student become more confident such as explaining difficult concepts to them or showing them how to go about difficult questions and I find it to be a quality…
I think the most important thing is to adhere to the students needs and their form of learning. If a student is more of a visual learner then I would adapt my teaching style to suit them. I also feel that being available after class hours for queries and concerns is vital but also be able to provide guidance and a good role model not only…

The goal of a tutor is to help the students gain confidence in their subject and help the student with their grades. It is important a tutor is able to help a student gain enjoyment from the subject so that they are inspired and happy to continue to study when the tutor is not around. My greatest strengths are in tutoring English. I am able to…
In primary, tutoring often targets core arithmetic—addition, subtraction, times tables, fractions, and building number sense—while also pushing for deeper comprehension, not just rote rules. High school sessions shift to algebraic thinking, graphing, interpreting questions, and developing strong exam strategies. There’s a big emphasis on breaking down word problems, revisiting tricky homework, and test prep for NAPLAN or semester exams, always tailored to what each student finds hardest right now.
Recent Challenges
Some primary students rush through comprehension or maths tasks without fully reading instructions, leading to incomplete or off-target answers. In high school, it’s common for students to have scattered or unclear working, which makes multi-step problems harder to check and fix. Other frequent hurdles include forgetting materials, leaving homework unfinished, or spending revision time catching up on missed basics instead of moving forward—all of which can hold back progress and lead to confusion.
Recent Achievements
Tutors are noticing students becoming more proactive during lessons—regularly checking their own work, spotting errors, and making corrections without being asked. There’s a clear shift toward students verbalising their steps in maths and explaining their reasoning aloud, rather than rushing through problems. Tutors also report that learners are reviewing their test results with more care and taking the initiative to improve, showing greater confidence and ownership of their progress.
What they say about our tutoring
We are very pleased with the program to date. Stephen is a very nice young man and a good tutor. David our son enjoys his teaching style and tutoring.
I was very happy with James' tutoring. Warren was a great tutor for James and as I mentioned on the phone,I wish we had found him sooner. In the short time that James did have his tutoring, I did notice he has become more confident and independent with his maths. Although he is still not a straight A student, he did show some improvement.
Thank you for the follow up. Belinda is fantastic. Ben really likes her. I know it has only been 3 weeks but Ben is already feeling more confident with his maths. His exams start next week so Belinda is revising with him. I'm very happy, thank you.
