A tutor's primary goal should be to help the student understand the material they are learning. This might involve explaining concepts in different ways, providing examples, or breaking things down into smaller, more manageable chunks. Being able to remain patient and calm when working with students is my strength, as it allows me to be more…

I believe the most important thing a tutor can be to a student is patient and kind. This is because there could be a particular concept the student is struggling with, so the tutor needs to be able to help them learn and improve on that topic. Being patient and kind in explaining it to the student is, therefore, an important part of doing so.…

I believe my strengths would be clear and concise communication. The ability to break down concepts and deliver them linking to real world examples so that students understand…

I think one of the most important things a tutor can do is make the student feel truly listened to. When a student feels heard and understood, they gain confidence. I also believe it's about helping them fall in love with the subject not just memorise it. If they can connect with the topic and see its value or beauty in some way, learning becomes…

Personal relationships are foundational to student success. The more connected a student feels to his or her tutor, the more the tutor creates trust and respect, essential ingredients for students to learn well. I listen to students well so that I can better understand their misconceptions and errors. I would encourage them in the learning process…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen to them. To be honest, an excellent tutor needs to be able to assist students in meeting deadlines. Delivering instruction that gives students the tools they need to be more independent in their studies is as vital, though. Listen to the student. I think it's important that tutors listen to their students to understand their strengths and weaknesses, and get to know them. By doing this, you'll be able to help them in the way that works best for them, in the areas that they're struggling with the most. Sometimes there are things outside of schoolwork that make it hard…

Local Reviews

EzyMath Tutoring has been wonderful so far in finding a tutor to suit our needs. The communication has been great. Highly recommend this service.
Jo, Doncaster

Inside DoncasterTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student George worked through linear equations with one unknown and practiced pie graphs and finding averages.

In Year 10, Olivia focused on solving simultaneous equations using the elimination method and practiced a range of integration problems.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Sophia reviewed logarithmic laws and their graphs, then tackled circular functions, working through examples to strengthen her understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student was advised to develop stronger CAS calculator skills in spare moments, but often left this unpracticed—this led to hesitation and lost time during Methods SAC preparation. "He just needs to practice this for Year 12," one tutor remarked, yet homework remained incomplete.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student forgot to attend class entirely last week; missing the session meant gaps in algebra review lingered.

In Year 5 maths, one student repeatedly attempted word problems in their head instead of writing them out, resulting in confusion and errors when negative numbers were involved—a habit that slowed progress on fraction conversions.

Recent Achievements

One Doncaster tutor noted a Year 10 student who used to skip steps in simultaneous equations now methodically checks her work and pinpoints errors independently before moving on.

In a recent Year 11 session, a student who previously struggled with log laws began talking through problems out loud, showing she could apply formulas without prompting and explain each step.

Meanwhile, a primary student tackling long division—something that caused frustration earlier in the term—now initiates problem-solving herself and only asks for help once she's given it a real attempt.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

As an Ezy Math tutor, I was especially confident that I could bring positive results to my students. This was because they gave me a great teaching framework to work within, with which I could incorporate my own methods. My greatest accomplishments working with Ezy Math were without doubt the moments when my students were able to overcome certain learning difficulties to produce excellent results. This was often achievable through a simple reorganisation of their work habits and thinking processes. I would highly recommend Ezy Math tutoring to prospective tutors or clients.

Working for Ezy Math Tutoring was different than I thought it would be. I had tutored privately before and I thought it would be pretty much the same deal, but its really not. Working for Ezy Math was great because, every fortnight I was presented with new ideas or stratergies to help my students and there was always the support and room for feedback in every aspect of the Job. When I applied for the job, I was tossing up the idea of maybe becoming a teacher sometime in my career, and working for Ezy Math has made that decision a lot easier. Tutoring is really one of the most rewarding jobs I can imagine doing, as you can literally see the kids begin to get confident and start to surprise themselves with what they know. I would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring as a very well conducted and professional organisation. I feel that working for Ezy Math was a great experience.

I consider improvements in Maths Test results as my biggest accomplishments while working for EzyMath Tutoring. Whether it be by 10, 20, or 50% improvements it is vital that students strive to a higher standard in both their effort and application to the subject. Students should have goals that are realistic of what they want to achieve in Mathematics. Small goals make a big difference in the overall success in this subject. Whether it be to get a 50% pass mark in the next Mathematics Assessment is much better than getting 43%.  I came to work for the company mainly for the tutoring experience. I have a high school teaching background so it was important for me to branch out into different areas and have a look at more 1 to 1 tutoring which can help develop further my high school teaching career. Tutoring has taught me different teaching strategies that I can implement into the classroom. The Learning Modules in particular was a great resource in reaffirming some of my initial ideas and concepts that I had with the subject. It is a great tool for both tutors and students to be able to understand the complexities in Mathematics and its differentiation from other subjects such as English, History and Science.  I would highly recommend this tutoring company to anyone willing to invest money into making improvements in Mathematics learning. The website is comprehensive and has alot of great resources for both tutors, students, and anyone interested in the subject. The worksheets are a great addition which I have found useful, and would be great use for teachers in the classroom. Overall it has been a positive experience. I believe that we can never stop learning as educators, and it is great to see good people investing alot of time and energy into making teaching and learning in Mathematics more fun, engaging, and innovative.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Doncaster Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Doncaster Primary School.
