The most important thing an english tutor can do is to make their students curious about the subject they are studying and help them retain the knowledge they had learnt I think my strengths are that I have a lot of knowledge in subjects that some students have trouble in and I can further expand that knowledge so that each student gets to…

Everything went well with Sue. She is just what we were looking for in a tutor. We have already made some more appointments with Sue into next year. Fantastic. Thank you so much for your help by sending Sue. I look forward to our continuing working relationship with her.

Inside DrouinTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Mehar focused on adding and subtracting fractions, converting between decimals and fractions using place values, and representing proper fractions on a number line.

Year 10 student Alexander worked through kinematics concepts for his physics exam, including constant acceleration motion, inclined planes, and momentum in collisions.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Gavin practised solving linear equations and quadratic functions, as well as exploring the range and domain of functions during initial Maths Methods revision.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 mathematics, one student arrived without completed homework and lacked organized notes from school, leading to confusion with area formulas and unit conversions—"he did not have his own notes written down but follows teacher notes."

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student relied heavily on the CAS calculator for linearising data in Maths Methods but struggled to model equations independently.

In senior Physics (Year 12), missing foundational understanding of circular functions meant progress stalled until concepts were revisited.

During timed pre-tests in Year 7, nerves affected recall of decimals and fractions, leaving key sections blank as confidence slipped mid-task.

Recent Achievements

One Drouin tutor noted that a Year 11 student, Gavin, recently began tackling quadratic inequalities with much greater independence; where he previously hesitated, he now confidently uses the discriminant to determine solution sets and can expand polynomials without prompting.

Meanwhile, a younger student in primary school has started explaining her reasoning aloud when working through area and perimeter problems—a shift from her earlier tendency to stay quiet or guess.

In another high school session, Tyler moved past confusion around trigonometric ratios and set up equations correctly on both scientific and CAS calculators for the first time.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Gianna is a fantastic tutor who has definitely been able to help my son Bryce improve his understanding.  Bryce has jumped from a C in Maths to an A- which is proof of excellent work from both Gianna and my son.  Thank you.

Julian has done a wonderful job tutoring Julia. She has always struggled with maths but has made very good progress thanks to his patient, consistent effort. We look forward to his continuing to tutor Julia up to the HSC exams.

Daniel as a tutor is a very good fit (perfect) for Sid! We are quite happy with the way things are progressing so far & happy to continue.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Drouin Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Ita's School.
