Tutor is a guidance and the support. A right tutor can shape the future of the student. As the Chinese proverb goes: "Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for lifetime". Hence I would say tutor plays a very important role in shaping the education and career of the student by teaching him/her the right…

I think the greatest gift a tutor can provide to a student is support. School can often be an isolating and intimidating experience, and often students, despite being remarkably talented, feel afraid to take risks and go beyond what is expected of them. A tutor can also make the learning experience far more rewarding and enjoyable. Students feel…

Tutor can be patient with their student and let them learn at their pace. Also, I believe a tutor should NEVER spoon fed but rather act like a mentor, guiding and helping if and only where it is required. I'm patient with students and understand that each student is different and have their own learning pace. I take pride in my ability to break…

I consider that a tutor most importantly can remove or lessen the weaknesses that may be holding back a student. This then enables them to work at the same level or in advance of their colleagues and fellow students, removing the feelings of inadequacy and giving self-efficacy. I have had many experiences in business and have much knowledge about…

I believe the most important things that a tutor can do for a student mainly relies on what the end goal of the student is. If it is just to get the homework done, it will get done. But, for me as a tutor, I would personally make sure that every student understands the concept from the beginning rather than providing a general overview. I believe…

From booking this service to commencement has been so easy. I received a phone call to determine my daughter's needs and after agreeing to the service I have received plenty of support from the team. They have emailed me with comprehensive information and have checked in at week 3 to see how it is all going. The tutor they provided is so professional and has a great approach to tutoring my 17 years old daughter. I would recommend this service without any hesitation.

Inside EastwoodTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Ava worked through multiplying numbers with **algebraic expressions** and practiced substitution to find equivalent expressions.

In Year 11, Ethan focused on trigonometry—specifically the **sine and cosine rules**—and solved application questions involving bearings.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Amber reviewed financial mathematics by working through loan repayment tables and **annuities**, using examples from Chapter 4 to consolidate understanding of key calculations.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student preparing for the HSC has been advised to write out working more methodically in algebra, as "guessing what to do" led to confusion and missed steps on recent practice papers.

In Year 8, one student's tendency to breeze through worded problems resulted in overlooked key details—this often changed the entire question being answered.

A younger learner struggled with long division because they sometimes dropped down two numbers instead of one, making tracking remainders tricky and slowing progress.

These habits meant time was spent retracing steps or feeling stuck mid-question rather than building confidence.

Recent Achievements

One Eastwood tutor noticed a big shift in a Year 10 student's approach to trigonometry: after struggling with bearings questions, she began identifying patterns herself and applied these confidently across different problems.

In another session, a Year 11 student independently completed all assigned HSC-style financial maths questions, showing initiative by tackling extra practice beyond the homework set.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who used to make frequent errors with addition and subtraction now finishes long sums accurately and much faster than before—last week he completed every question in his workbook without any corrections needed from the tutor.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Richard is a really lovely young man. He is very patient and good at explaining concepts. He is working really well with Annah and I think even in the 3 weeks we have had so far her understanding and confidence is growing.

Since Diali has started working with Brendan I have seen her motivation to engage in maths skyrocket. Prior, it took a great deal of coaxing to get her to do her homework, let alone to do anything extra relating to maths. Brendan has provided Diali with cause for a notable increase in her enthusiasm, sense of being encouraged, confidence and her incentive to work on her maths. She completes Brendan's assigned homework with enthusiasm (except when she is too tired at the end of the day) and she is practicing her times-tables with less resistance! She is looking forward to her next maths tutorial with Brendan. Brendan has a gentle, helpful and very supportive approach and he relates superwell to children. We are really so happy to have the support of Brendan as Diali's tutor.

We're proud of our son is achieving better results and thanks to a good tutor also who's I believe showing him the way also.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Eastwood Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St Kevin's Catholic Primary School.
