Listen to feedback. Make sure they understand what they are being taught and determine if a new approach is needed. Sometimes the same information can be summarised and presented in a different way that is just easier for some people to understand. My own capacity for learning. Information retention and comprehensive analysis. Communication…

Inspire creativity, assist with understanding of difficult concepts. I believe that another important thing a tutor can do for a student is be there to listen when they dint understand and break it down into smaller parts to help them understand. Foster a love of learning, growth and understanding. I am productive and encouraging as a tutor. I am…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is support them, whether it be in their studies or aspirations, or even just their every day life. I\'m good with kids (I\'m an older sister and have often babysat my brother and cousins). I\'m patient and I have a genuine passion for…

Not just simple topic understanding but also inspiring the individual to continue to pursue an understanding in their studies in a holistic sense. My strength in mathematics by far. I'm currently completing a dual degree in business management and mathematics at UQ. I would also say i am quite personable and come across as very…

Inside ElimbahTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Darell worked on identifying prime and composite numbers as well as tackling square and triangular numbers in preparation for his maths exam.

In Year 9, Rebecca focused on simplifying ratios and practising questions about rates from her homework, helping to consolidate her understanding of these concepts.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Joshua reviewed trigonometry topics including the sine and cosine rules and practised transposing equations using textbook examples to prepare for upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student repeatedly forgot to bring home key maths materials, limiting his ability to revise fractions and multiplication between sessions—"needs to bring home school work to revise current content."

In Year 11, one student relied heavily on reminders for formula recall and rarely used a single, organized notebook for notes, making it harder to revisit tough concepts like inverse trig equations.

Meanwhile, a Year 6 learner skipped homework entirely last week and was encouraged instead to practice math games at home.

Each of these moments meant lost chances for confident recall during problem-solving or test revision.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Elimbah noticed Joshua now takes the initiative to ask for help with unfamiliar problem-solving steps—a big shift from when he hesitated and stayed quiet.

Rebecca, also in high school, recently showed she can admit when she doesn't understand a question and clearly explains which parts confuse her, making lessons more productive than before.

Meanwhile, younger student Charlie has started talking through his subtraction strategies out loud instead of working silently and guessing, helping him finish homework tasks with far fewer errors than earlier in the term.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

The one on one tutoring is definitely assisting Caitlin for Maths. She is seeing a slight improvement and beginning to understand topics in more depth. She is building rapport with Bernadeine; so all is going well at this stage.

Cara is very happy with Ishwarya as her tutor. They have an easy, productive working relationship already after only three weeks, Cara was comfortable with Ishwarya after the first week.

William is excited as he is learning more with Bailey than with his math's teacher. Baileys methods are easy to follow and very helpful. Bailey is always on time and puts in 110%. After every session, you can see the smile on William's face and his new found confidence. We are very impressed and very lucky to have Bailey tutor William.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Caboolture Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Elimbah State School.
