The best things that a mentor can give his/her students are life long skills and strategies. Academic knowledge is one thing however being able to know how to handle other different learning problem is something that the students can take with them for a long time (eg; time management, self discipline, problem solving skills) I believe my…

A tutor not only has to teach and assist, but has to provide a student with the confidence that he or she is capable of performing work to a high standard on their own. I believe my biggest strengths, as evident by my high school grades, are my highly developed mathematical and english skills. My main weakness would be holding a student to a…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is make them love what they are studying and also make the subject one of their strengths. A tutor is similar to a teacher, therefore giving the knowledge of what the teacher knows to a student is the most important thing as a tutor. As a student I know what I expect from my tutor therefore,…

I believe that an effective tutor will help the student develop as a learner and problem solver, not only in the subject tutored, and give them lifelong study skills. This is important because the subject and level being tutored is only temporary, whereas people continue gaining and using knowledge for their whole lives. My objective as a tutor is…

I believe there are two things that are most important for a tutor. The first is not only knowing what area of help the student is in need of, but understanding why they need help with that, which is then enlightening as a tutor in how they should receive assistance. The second point is to be approachable and kind, so that students feel as though…

I think the most important things are that a tutor should should consider are knowing the student's leaning style because not every student are the same to just get a question or example at one go, it is important to make the student ask questions or ask them questions so they think outside the box and get a better understanding. I think my…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student is to be direct when instructing students. Tutors must assist to help students expanding their minds with knowledge. My strength as a tutor would be that I am easy going and I have a quirky personality so I can adapt to assist any student. I am patient and will not push too hard but…

I believe that as a tutor is to help students to believe in themselves. As we help them and guide them through different questions and explaining different concepts and doing exercises, it’s important to also remind the student once they get a question correct to acknowledge that they have done it and push for them to keep going. They do have…

It would have to be that a tutor can teach a student a one on one lesson and help him improve his understanding about different ways to approach a maths or english problem which will in turn help the student extremely in the future. A tutor must be like a very smart class mate which doesnt give you the answer directly but instead takes him time to…

Understanding and sociability are the most important traits for a tutor. The tutor needs to be attentive so they can understand the best approach to help a student with their work. Additionally, you do not want to come off as imposing or tough because you will make a student feel adverse towards studying and possibly about themselves. Being…

I think the most important things a tutor can do is a) be consistent and persistent - constantly show up, be willing to explain things 100 times if that's what is needed. The student needs to have faith in you. And b) build confidence - tutoring isn't a short term option, by teaching them the skills of how to attack problems they don't understand,…

I want to thank Ezy Maths Tutoring, as Joshua seems to have connected well with David and is working with his strengths. Already we are seeing a difference in the confidence of David to tackle his Maths and is being guided to see the areas that he is lacking instead of total self doubt of thinking that he knows nothing .

Inside Elizabeth ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Kody focused on division and addition through step-by-step practice, also tackling multiplication in a later session.

Year 8 student Chase worked on comparing and contrasting media types for English, and completed a history assignment about Viking transportation, shipbuilding materials, and the role of horses using his own research.

Meanwhile, Year 9 student Sienna revised lines and angles by solving geometry problems, then moved on to constructing triangles with a protractor while discussing the exterior angle property.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in mathematics showed strong mental calculation skills, but as noted, "the writing part takes a back seat," leading to skipped steps and confusion when reviewing algebraic work.

In Year 8 geometry, incomplete recall of angle names and properties meant solutions were correct but lacked clear reasoning—this made revision less effective.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student struggled to remember key facts for worded problems and lost track of multi-step calculations without written support.

When homework or essential materials were forgotten (Year 6), progress in mastering new content slowed noticeably during the lesson.

Recent Achievements

One Elizabeth Park tutor noticed Chelsea, a high school student, now tackles equations with much more independence—she regularly completes her homework neatly and asks clarifying questions as soon as something feels unclear, which marks a big shift from her earlier hesitation to speak up.

In another session, Caitlin was able to apply trigonometric ratios quickly to unfamiliar word problems; she previously needed step-by-step prompting but now moves through new examples on her own initiative.

Meanwhile, Chase in primary years has begun using the finger-tap method unprompted when spelling tricky words—a strategy he used to avoid because it felt slow—and recently finished a full puzzle round without needing help.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I have greatly enjoyed my time that I have spent as a tutor for Ezy Math Tutoring, and a large reason for this have been the structures they provide for tutoring sessions and the way they equip tutors through training. It lays a solid foundation for tutors and students who may be unsure about the art of tutoring and allows both parties to hit the ground running and utilise sessions efficiently. I would recommend them to potential tutors and clients in a heartbeat.

Alex was happy with the initial session and they have their second session this weekend.   She was able to obtain an immediate improvement from her interaction with Phillip as he worked on actual tasks with her.

Thanks for your email.  Our decision to discontinue the tutoring was not due to any dissatisfaction - quite the opposite.  My daughter only had a few sessions with her tutor, and in that time gained a huge amount of confidence in her abilities.  The tutor was able to reassure her that she wasn't as bad at maths as she believed.  This new-found confidence enabled my daughter to discuss openly with her teacher the difficulties she was having, and get some extra help at school.  Since then, she has performed markedly better in her assignments and tests. Natasha is an excellent tutor and I would highly recommend your company to anyone experiencing difficulty with Maths. Thanks for the follow up and for all your help.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Playford Civic Centre Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Elizabeth Park Primary School.
