Biology Tutor Harrington Park, NSW
I think the most important a biology tutor can do for a student is to get to know and read them perfectly. This allows a tutor to know exactly what a student needs to excel, help them set realistic goals and knowing not only when to help but also when not to help, rather letting the student try and solve a complex question themselves without…

Biology Tutor Smeaton Grange, NSW
Recognise HOW a student actually learns. One of the hardest things a student has to learn is what method of studying actually suits them and once you find that the rest seems to fall in place. Devoting time and resources to your students to improve in their core weaknesses and not being afraid to reteach the most basic skills should also be common…

Biology Tutor Smeaton Grange, NSW
The most important thing would be to make the lessons engaging and fun so the student doesn't feel forced to be there and is able to enjoy working on the subject and gain pleasure out of it. As a student I found that I did worse in subjects that weren't as engaging so I wanna make sure that my students are engages I would say my biggest strength…

Inside Ellis LaneTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Ava worked through decimal point questions, number patterns, and addition/subtraction strategies using visual examples.

In Year 8, James focused on solving one- and two-step equations with variables on both sides, as well as equations involving fractions.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Emily tackled area and volume problems—especially surface area of cylinders—and reviewed recent data statistics content for an upcoming assessment.

Recent Challenges

In Year 5 maths, revision before tests was inconsistent—one student, for example, didn't review geometry ahead of a perimeter and area test, which left her underprepared on irregular shapes.

A Year 8 student had ongoing trouble with frequency tables but "did not review quadratic equations" when needed; feedback wasn't taken up between sessions.

At the senior level (Year 11), notes show summary sheets weren't made for differentiation topics and several exercises were left incomplete: "Needs to complete exercises."

These patterns meant students entered new lessons still uncertain about methods or missing key steps from earlier work.

Recent Achievements

One Ellis Lane tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously hesitated with induction proofs now tackling division induction questions with much more assurance, even explaining steps aloud instead of relying on hints.

A Year 9 learner, after struggling to generalise ratio problems in the past, is now independently applying the right strategy across new contexts—she recently solved overtime pay scenarios using her own summary sheet for reference.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who often guessed when unsure about decimals has started asking clarifying questions without prompting and completed all her decimal conversions correctly during last session.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I am very pleased with Gabrielle and so is Thomas, so a great start. Just having a  mentor has boasted Thomas's confidence enormously and I listen to how Gabrielle communicates with Thomas and I am amazed. Thomas is very happy.

I had one tutoring session with Tom and he was fantastic. Very easy to talk to and had clearly prepared before coming to see me. The exam that I needed his help to prepare for is this Thursday so I no longer need his services. I have told Tom I will let him know how I went after the exam on Thursday.

We are very happy with Shunan as Antony and Bella's tutor. He is doing a wonderful job. Thank you!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Camden Council Library Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like Camden Public School.
