Understanding a students strengths and weaknesses is the most important thing a physics tutor can do to ensure the student grows and learns in a subject. Understanding the Student’s Needs: Every student is unique, with their own strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. A good tutor takes the time to understand these aspects and tailors their teaching approach accordingly.
Creating a Safe Learning Environment: Students should feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and expressing…
Understand them and yourself, it's important to acknowledge their limits as well as your own. If something isn't working then don't force it. Being able to understand concepts well and teach in a manner that is understandable to each…
The tutor should be a mentor to their student, finding fulfillment and happiness in their student's success, while ensuring their goals and expectations are adhered to. Any student can find learning material and solutions online, hence to truly make a difference as a physics tutor it is essential to be encouraging to the student and have a will to…
Every student is different and requires different teaching methods. One cannot generalise every student learning patterns.
A tutor must be able to develop new learning strategies and tools and simplify lessons that are difficult and hard for students to understand. He must also be able to inspire and motivate his students to be better and to aim…
One of the most important things in tutoring is to understand the way the student thinks, and the ways they learn most efficiently, through which the way of teaching can then by oriented or altered to suit the learner to learn most effectively. I can explain complex ideas in the most simple ways for students to understand, I always also create…
Personally I believe it is very important to communicate the material to different types of students, everybody learns different and adapting to this is very important. Communication is key and you have to be clear when teaching content. I also believe it is important to create a safe space for students to be able to ask for help and feedback. As…
I believe it's important to understand a student- because only then can you get through to them and start teaching. I'm very patient and 'chill': I find it easy to relate to students and have fun with teaching.
I also am very quick to change my teaching style if I feel like a student isn't quite responding to…
The most important thing a physics tutor can do is to make their students curious about the subject they are studying and help them retain the knowledge they had learnt I think my strengths are that I have a lot of knowledge in subjects that some students have trouble in and I can further expand that knowledge so that each student gets to…
A tutor should help a student understand the essence of the lesson and identify which areas the student should strive for excellence. I'm patient, practical, and quick at adapting to the students I teach. Once I understand how my tutees think, it becomes easy for me to help them…
The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to help them learn content rather than simply absorb it. Often students will try to memorise content and methods of problem solving rather than actually understanding why and how to use those methods. If a tutor can help a student adequately understand their studies, I believe the…
Assist them in whatever help they require but more importantly explaining a certain topic in an easy to understand way. I am really good at explaining the subject in an easy to understand manner for people to…
Tutoring can provide students with individual advice and help specific to each individual student. Unlike school classes, teachers are required to consider a wide range of skill levels, but tutoring does not need to follow the standard class procedures and designate a specific pace and content for students. Students are also able to receive…
A tutor should be able to understand how they can help a student and should teach content or provide help in a way that suits their student's learning style. This would ensure that students are able to learn easier and with less stress. Students should not just be taught what to learn but also how to learn depending on the topic learnt, since it…
I personally consider the interactive and "adaptive" aspects of being a physics tutor to be the most important things a tutor can do for their student. In my opinion, keeping the student engaged, such as through mini breaks or games between long sessions of work, is the most effective way of teaching them in a fun, yet informative manner.…
A tutor can change the perspective of a student regarding any subject. The most important thing a physics tutor can do for a student is to understand the student's capacity and design a curriculum that fits their learning capabilities. I am very patient when handling situations with kids. I make sure I provide a friendly, flexible service to the…
express the concepts in an such a way so that all the students be able to understand. To understand and help to solve the difficulties of the students…
A tutor typically works 1-on-1, therefor it's important to treat each student as an individual and figure out what style of learning works best for them. A tutor should collaborate with the student to help them reach academic heights that they would not be able to with regular schooling alone. I am positive, encouraging, but also thorough. I am…
A tutor can share his or her experience with the student. He/she can build confidence and patience in the student. Also, the tutors help the student to achieve their goal as a successful person. I am very friendly, so the students can share their queries with great ease. Moreover, I always try to solve the problems in an interesting way so that…
In primary, tutoring often targets core arithmetic—addition, subtraction, times tables, fractions, and building number sense—while also pushing for deeper comprehension, not just rote rules. High school sessions shift to algebraic thinking, graphing, interpreting questions, and developing strong exam strategies. There’s a big emphasis on breaking down word problems, revisiting tricky homework, and test prep for NAPLAN or semester exams, always tailored to what each student finds hardest right now.
Recent Challenges
Some primary students rush through comprehension or maths tasks without fully reading instructions, leading to incomplete or off-target answers. In high school, it’s common for students to have scattered or unclear working, which makes multi-step problems harder to check and fix. Other frequent hurdles include forgetting materials, leaving homework unfinished, or spending revision time catching up on missed basics instead of moving forward—all of which can hold back progress and lead to confusion.
Recent Achievements
Tutors are noticing students becoming more proactive during lessons—regularly checking their own work, spotting errors, and making corrections without being asked. There’s a clear shift toward students verbalising their steps in maths and explaining their reasoning aloud, rather than rushing through problems. Tutors also report that learners are reviewing their test results with more care and taking the initiative to improve, showing greater confidence and ownership of their progress.
What they say about our tutoring
Holly has stated that Jennifer her tutor is helping her with her Maths. She is certainly in a better frame of mind with Jennifer than when either myself or my husband had tried to help in the past. Early days yet but looking positive.
We are very happy with Kirill. In a short space of time he seems to have developed a good relationship with our sons. They feel comfortable asking for assistance in understanding concepts etc. I feel that Kirill is a good match and a great role model for them!!! It doesn't hurt that he is from NZ (like me); sporty (like my boys) and at Melbourne Uni doing engineering , which is something that I think may interest Mason!
I just wanted to say thank you, Ruhail is a very pleasant young man, and show a very professional manor approach with Tutoring Stephanie.
Stephanie is also impressed and when I have questioned her how she is finding Ruhail and the Tutoring, her comments were all pleasant.
She said Ruhail is very nice and explains maths in more simple terms, making her understand Maths easier.
She compares Ruhail to the teacher at school and can't understand why she is left dumb-founded in the classroom yet her Tuition makes much more sense and understands the topic/task clearer.
So far we are both impressed with Ruhail and his tutoring.
