I think one of the most important things a maths tutor can do for a student is to actively listen and to be organised with planning lessons. Responsibility is the first word that comes to my mind. I come from Vietnam, and I have seen very few Australian students who require a maths tutor, comparing to Vietnamese students. If they hire a tutor, they must have a need to improve their academic performance. Hence, a tutor needs to be responsible for them to achieve a better result. I…

Inside EtheltonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Maddison identified key challenges in division, fractions, and algebra while discussing gaps from previous years and began planning how to address these areas moving forward.

For Year 10, Jayden reviewed multiplication, division, and the gradient formula before tackling errors on an indices quiz together.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Chloe practiced multiplication and division skills along with working through points on a graph and applying the gradient formula using sample questions.

Recent Challenges

In Year 11, a student arrived at a session unable to locate her completed homework, so much of the lesson was spent redoing tasks instead of moving ahead.

In Year 10 Maths Methods, one student said she "wasn't aware they had a quiz the following day"—this lack of organization meant missed revision opportunities.

A Year 8 learner completed homework hastily without using her exam cheat sheet for guidance, which led to avoidable errors.

Meanwhile, in Year 3 English, forgetting both the word list and weekly homework meant no spelling review could take place that session.

Recent Achievements

One Ethelton tutor recently saw a Year 11 student, who previously hesitated to ask for feedback, now approach her teacher directly to retrieve quizzes and request test returns—a big shift in self-advocacy.

In another high school session, a student who struggled with trigonometry not only finished the lesson independently but also attempted all assigned homework without prompting.

Meanwhile, a Year 3 learner named Esther brought her own homework along and eagerly used stickers as motivation to correct tricky spelling words—she even moved up four reading levels this term, tackling much longer books during tutoring.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Very happy with tutoring, Charles has been very helpful. Gilda and Charles are working well together.

We came to Ezymaths because our son has problems understanding some of the year 8 topics. When I contacted the company, the customer service staff was very understanding and spent time listening to my problems with my son's attitude towards Maths subject. He answered all my questions and removed any doubt I had about the success of a tutoring service to my son in our own home. My son was very happy with the first meeting with Amy and the second meeting he started to warm up. The 3rd meeting, he was already asking questions and was able to do his homework independently because he understood the concept. He said that the tutor's explanation about the topic was very clear and he now have better understanding of the concepts. Since he is in the top class, he found that they move very fast to the next topic in class and appreciated the one on one lesson from his tutor and the convenience that he doesn't have to go anywhere. The company is very easy to deal with. No pressure nor hassle from the company. I would recommend parents to talk to Ezymaths if their children have problems in Math or if the children want to improve their grades. I will definitely call Ezymaths again when my son encounters difficulty with certain topics in class.

Thank you for following up the tuition, actually we are very pleased with Joyce. Matilda says Joyce is very well organised ,uses proper techniques and tries to covers all problem areas. So far all is good & we are looking forward to a good outcome.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as West Lakes Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Portside Christian College.
