The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to listen to their concerns and also find the gaps in knowledge they have to be able to work with them and focus on helping to learn what they are struggling with to help them through their education. The strengths I have as a tutor are that if I do not know the answer to something, I would…

Expanding on what I have written earlier, I think that one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is be prepared, and always willing to learn. I think this requires being a bit humble, and accepting that, even with something that may appear to be far below the tutor's learning, there may still be things that aren't known or have…

I think that curiosity and the satisfaction of that curiosity is the most enjoyable part of learning. Whilst students have different goals for their learning the tutor has an opportunity to impact a life positively. The most important thing is to achieve the student's goal but over and above that a tutor can engender a love of learning that will…

The most important things a tutor can do are build the student’s confidence, provide personalised support, and create a safe environment for learning. A good tutor doesn’t just teach content they empower the student to become a more independent and motivated learner. My strengths as a tutor include patience, clear communication, and…

Modern History Tutor Elizabeth Downs, SA
Tutors serve a distinct role from teachers and parents, putting them in a unique position to assist learners. Personal relationships are crucial to student achievement; the more attached a student feels to his or her tutor, the more trust and respect the tutor instils in the student, both of which are necessary ingredients for effective learning.…

Important things a tutor can do for a student is simply to believe in them and to encourage them when they start feeling disparaged. I believe I have great patience when it comes to tutoring and I can break concepts down…

Such a loving, caring and tutor for Henry! She helped his year 8 English grades spike from a C- to a A! Highly recommend!

Inside EvanstonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Derin focused on differentiation and integration, specifically tackling derivatives of exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions as well as applying chain and product rules; he also reviewed integration concepts through practice tests.

Year 11 student Olivia worked through discrete random variables with a focus on Bernoulli and Binomial distributions, along with statistics revision using targeted practice exams.

For Year 10, Sam revised algebraic translations and transformations by solving textbook problems, then moved into exam preparation with SACE-style practice questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly left major Research Project tasks until the last minute, resulting in rushed articles and incomplete notes; "because of time pressure the opportunity to absorb learning is limited," one tutor noted.

In Year 11 Maths, a student's reliance on working through assignments only during tutoring sessions meant less independent revision and shallow preparation for upcoming tests.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student did not complete assigned times tables homework, making it difficult to move forward with division skills—she still relied heavily on counting fingers in sessions.

In each case, avoidable process habits led to stress or slower progress during lesson time.

Recent Achievements

One Evanston tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who, after often waiting for guidance in past sessions, arrived knowing exactly what he wanted help with—leading to his questions being resolved much more quickly and independently.

A Year 10 student showed new initiative by adapting calculus and algebra skills to unfamiliar problems without prompting, something she previously hesitated to attempt on her own.

Meanwhile, a primary schooler who used to lose focus when distracted managed to stay on task throughout her session and completed all her spelling words quiz with full marks.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I would like to express my satisfaction with Ezy Math Tutoring and I would not hesitate to use you in the future or recommend you.  Mitchell Fung worked very well with my son and I was very pleased with his knowledge and nature.  A big thankyou.

All is going very well with Eden's tutoring.  We are very happy and our only regret is that we didn't do this earlier. Eden has said she has understood maths more with Calvin than in all her years at school. We look forward to seeing Eden's confidence in maths grow steadily and am pleased she is comfortable with Calvin's patience to keep questioning him in areas she struggles with.

Yes everything has started off great. Lachie really likes Suzan which has made it much easier and seems to be looking forward to Sunday tutoring. Thanks you very much on the email, much appreciated.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Evanston Gardens Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Gawler and District College B-12.
