The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to listen to their concerns and also find the gaps in knowledge they have to be able to work with them and focus on helping to learn what they are struggling with to help them through their education. The strengths I have as a tutor are that if I do not know the answer to something, I would…

There are many important things a tutor can do for their students however, the greatest thing is being a supportive role model. If the student is able to respect and understand their tutor, there is a high chance that student looks up to that tutor. Therefore, it is important that the tutor can develop a professional relationship with the student…

I believe that a tutor should be someone whom the student should feel comfortable asking questions. In this sense, the student should definitely feel no hestitation when asking for clarification if they do not completely understand a concept, something which is not always easy to do in a class. I believe my weaknesses as a tutor would stem from my…

Such a loving, caring and tutor for Henry! She helped his year 8 English grades spike from a C- to a A! Highly recommend!

Inside EvanstonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 12 student Derin focused on differentiation and integration, specifically tackling derivatives of exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions as well as applying chain and product rules; he also reviewed integration concepts through practice tests.

Year 11 student Olivia worked through discrete random variables with a focus on Bernoulli and Binomial distributions, along with statistics revision using targeted practice exams.

For Year 10, Sam revised algebraic translations and transformations by solving textbook problems, then moved into exam preparation with SACE-style practice questions.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly left major Research Project tasks until the last minute, resulting in rushed articles and incomplete notes; "because of time pressure the opportunity to absorb learning is limited," one tutor noted.

In Year 11 Maths, a student's reliance on working through assignments only during tutoring sessions meant less independent revision and shallow preparation for upcoming tests.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student did not complete assigned times tables homework, making it difficult to move forward with division skills—she still relied heavily on counting fingers in sessions.

In each case, avoidable process habits led to stress or slower progress during lesson time.

Recent Achievements

One Evanston tutor noticed a big shift with a Year 11 student who, after often waiting for guidance in past sessions, arrived knowing exactly what he wanted help with—leading to his questions being resolved much more quickly and independently.

A Year 10 student showed new initiative by adapting calculus and algebra skills to unfamiliar problems without prompting, something she previously hesitated to attempt on her own.

Meanwhile, a primary schooler who used to lose focus when distracted managed to stay on task throughout her session and completed all her spelling words quiz with full marks.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Marissa was very impressed with Ellaine, she found her easy to understand and follow. She is looking forward to her next lesson. Thank You.

I have greatly enjoyed my time that I have spent as a tutor for Ezy Math Tutoring, and a large reason for this have been the structures they provide for tutoring sessions and the way they equip tutors through training. It lays a solid foundation for tutors and students who may be unsure about the art of tutoring and allows both parties to hit the ground running and utilise sessions efficiently. I would recommend them to potential tutors and clients in a heartbeat.

Alex was happy with the initial session and they have their second session this weekend.   She was able to obtain an immediate improvement from her interaction with Phillip as he worked on actual tasks with her.
