Some of the most important responsibilities of a chemistry tutor include being available and easy to contact, which ensures that I am consistently there for the student. In addition, explaining concepts clearly through adaptable teaching methods is essential, as students learn in different ways. It is also important to check for genuine…

Chemistry Tutor Warrimoo, NSW
The most important thing for a chemistry tutor to do is to make sure the student can feel confident, making the subject enjoyable to learn, rather than stressful and disheartening. I try to understand what part they are struggling with, so I can help them understand, rather than learn rote answers. So this means I'm patient, and a good…

Finding ways to explain complex or confusing ideas and skills in ways that the student can understand and relate to. Inside FaulconbridgeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Emily worked on reading fluency and letter formation in English, alongside practising counting exercises using a workbook for Maths.

In Year 9, Alexia revised multiplying and dividing algebraic equations and focused on simplifying these expressions through targeted worksheets to prepare for an upcoming test.

For Year 10, Daniel explored Financial Maths by calculating tax, the Medicare levy, taxable income, and tax refunds using real-life examples from past exam papers.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student repeatedly left working steps out in financial maths questions—she skipped showing steps for tax and Medicare levy, which made it hard to spot calculation slips.

In a Year 8 algebra session, another student didn't review previous feedback before starting homework; errors with negative signs and method choice persisted across tasks.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student avoided sounding out unfamiliar words during reading practice, hesitating when spelling new vocabulary aloud. The result: time spent correcting recurring mistakes or circling back to basics instead of building confidence on new material.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Faulconbridge recently noticed some great shifts among students. In Year 11, Isabelle had previously been hesitant with new measurement formulas, but after patient practice she began tackling perimeter and area questions for shapes like trapeziums and cylinders with much less guidance, getting more answers right each session.

Tariq, a high schooler who needed help remembering how to convert fractions and decimals into percentages, is now working through these calculations with increasing independence—he even chose the correct method on his own during a recent lesson.

Meanwhile, Lillian in primary has started spelling every word on her weekly list correctly after struggling earlier in the term; she finished her last spelling test without any errors.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Leon has made some extreme improvement over this Term. In the last 3 weeks he has achieved 5th and 2nd!!! in the class mathematics tests. This has improved his confidence immensely and he shows more enthusiasm in his tutoring sessions. Very happy with Jordan.

We are very happy with how things are going with Sam - he is great at explaining concepts and Ruby seems to be responding positively to his style of coaching.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Blue Mountains Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Springwood High School.
