I believe tutor should make learning as simplistic as possible by relating the learning into real life on their applicability and usefulness to appreciate and making learning interesting and enjoyable. As a tutor, I relate philosophical aspects to the subject of teaching and in the process build strong psychology of the life and the subject I…

I think the most important thing an economics tutor can do for a student is to listen. It is important for a tutor to build a relationship with the students so that tutoring sessions don't become a chore, and the student feels comfortable seeking help with things in these sessions. Thus, I think that listening to and responding to the needs of the…

Economics Tutor Rivett, ACT
It is important to cater to the NEEDS of a student rather than following a outline or strict checklist. Each student is different with different requirements and areas of weakness and insecurity. It is important that students receive personalised learning experiences that benefits their situation most effectively. I like to find innovative ways to…

Clarify concepts: I believe I can help my student better understand difficult material by breaking it down into smaller, more manageable parts and explaining it in a way that is easy to understand. Provide feedback: I can also give my students constructive feedback on their work, helping them to identify areas for improvement and grow as…

A tutor influences a student in many ways. He or she contributes a lot to the personality of a student. The most important thing an economics tutor can do for a student, in my opinion, is to build confidence. And I believe confidence is something that is essential throughout a persons life. It's the confidence that makes one believe that they…

Economics Tutor O'malley, ACT
I believe one of the most important things an economics tutor can do for a student is to give them the confidence to approach difficulty. I believe this is more important than just teaching the students academic skills because by giving them confidence the student will be more proactive toward their learning. I'm a patient tutor who doesn't get…

Inside FisherTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Christian focused on mastering long division and practiced applying function notation to simple algebra problems.

For Year 9, Sophia tackled quadratic equations without a calculator and worked through finding the equation of a parabola given three points using simultaneous equations.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Christian concentrated on trigonometry, specifically using sine rules for general triangles and solving right-angled triangle problems involving unknown sides and angles.

Recent Challenges

A Year 10 student repeatedly arrived without their maths notes, making it difficult to refer back to previous work or clarify points in sessions; as a tutor noted, "No book again today. First part of problem was done in class and the original copy of this work was unavailable."

In Year 8 algebra, another student struggled with keeping their written solutions tidy and consistent—when steps weren't spaced out clearly, errors crept in during multi-step problems.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student hesitated to answer questions without immediate approval, which slowed her progress on number line tasks and made independent practice harder.

Recent Achievements

A Fisher tutor recently noticed a high school student who'd struggled with algebra now confidently talks through problems out loud and asks clarifying questions, instead of staying quiet when stuck.

Another high schooler made a clear leap in narrative writing—his paragraphs are more focused on the story's theme, and he's begun using emotive language effectively after previously writing quite flatly.

In primary sessions, one Year 4 student who used to hesitate with multiplication now solves these problems quickly and even explains her steps without prompting.
