Helping them grow, both academically and in extracurricular aspects. Study wise, making sure they understand the concept of the question instead of 'how to do the question'; know what the formula represents not what the formula is. Also using the wisdom I have gained throughout the years to guide them in problem solving in things that are outside…

A tutor should understand that different students have different levels of interests and requirements in Math. For those who merely wants to pass their exams, I would teach them the application of mathematical methods. For those who are interested in math, I would explain to them the principles and deeper logics of mathematical phenomenons beneath…

To return the trust, time, and energy they have placed on me when they decided to have me as their tutor. To be remembered as a friend who guided them along their learning instead of some strict, boring tutor whom they dread to see every week. I think I was praised to have a heart for children and that I could always find ways to interact with…

A tutor's duty is not only about teaching students to do specific questions, but also teaching them the methods and skills of doing all types of questions by sharing experiences and leading them to think deeply. The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to show them the pathway that leads to understanding of a particular concept. It is about the HOW we get to the final result rather than WHAT the final result is. A tutor is successful is the student is able to understand the reasoning behind a certain result/concept. After the tutor…

First and foremost, a tutor must have faith in his/her student. Having faith means having the trust that her students have the capability to excel not just academically but, in character development as well. As a tutor, I am not only an assistant in my student’s academic work. I am also a role model whom my student will look up to. Therefore, I…

Under most circumstances, students who need tutoring are usually having unsatisfactory performance in that specific subject. We, as tutors, are surely supposed to help them with school tasks; however, more importantly, we should also help students regain their confidence for that subject. Personally, I thought being a tutor needs patience and passion. The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to make sure he or she knew and understand fully what this particular student needs. Each student has their own needs and to teach with different techniques. Also, a tutor needs to be responsible and take care of his or her…

My first lesson with bavadharini was awesome (even my mum was impressed)! It took a test run to get here but I couldn't be more pleased with this system! I look forward to our future lessons together :)

Inside FlemingtonTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Alice worked on calculating mean, median, mode, and range in statistics as well as identifying angles with symmetry using visual examples.

In Year 9, Bita practised solving linear equations and worked through a worksheet on mean, median and mode provided by her teacher.

For Year 10, Laura focused on revising algebra and graphing techniques from the Year 11 curriculum to strengthen her foundation for upcoming studies.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student preparing for a statistics test hesitated to share which probability topics felt hardest, making it difficult to target weak spots; her notebook was also missing dates, so tracking progress became confusing.

In Year 9 algebra, as one tutor put it, "he skipped showing steps in simplification, which hid sign errors"—extra time was then spent hunting mistakes instead of building confidence.

A Year 7 student left homework incomplete before lessons and struggled with organizing exercise books and teacher feedback requests.

During Year 12 revision, reluctance to attempt unfamiliar graph questions led to gaps ahead of the upcoming test.

Recent Achievements

One Flemington tutor noticed a big change in a Year 11 student who used to freeze up on tough algebra questions—now, after working through some challenging Further Maths problems, he confidently explained his reasoning and tackled even the trickiest ones without hesitation.

In another session, a Year 9 student who'd struggled to distinguish between explanatory and response variables was able to clearly verbalise his thought process and correctly identify each one during practice.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who once guessed at answers now talks through her multiplication steps out loud and checks her work before moving on.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Flemington Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kensington Community High School.
