Psychology Tutor Callaghan, NSW
Improve their current academic standing but also the feelings attached to school and work in general. I am personable and ensure that classes would be tailored to each student by understanding what they are struggling…

Local Reviews

Jaya has a gentle but firm way with Charli who really struggles with confidence in her maths. Charli has come ahead leaps and bounds in her abilities over the last year and that is definitely due to Jaya's guidance and support. I would highly recommend Jaya to anyone who is looking for support for their child.

Inside FletcherTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Arjun worked on basic algebraic equations and strategies for unit conversion, practicing step-by-step problem solving.

In Year 9, Ava focused on straight-line equations by formulating lines using gradient (m) and y-intercept (c), along with tackling advanced exam-style questions involving gradients.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Ethan revised non-right-angled trigonometry concepts and bearings, completing challenging past paper problems to deepen his understanding.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled to extract data from long worded problems in maths, often losing motivation partway through. As a tutor noted, "she gets demotivated when the question has a lot of words and fewer pictures," which meant essential details were missed during multi-step tasks.

In Year 10 algebra, another found it hard to keep track of variable signs, with working skipped or only partly shown—leading to repeated sign errors and less feedback from the marker.

During HSC preparation, a senior student submitted short, shallow formal responses; incomplete answers left exam markers unsure about her reasoning.

Recent Achievements

A Fletcher tutor recently noticed Molly, a Year 10 student, shifting from needing step-by-step guidance with straight-line equations to independently extracting data and forming the equations herself during sessions.

In Year 8 maths, Janae used to hesitate when tackling algebraic problems but now solves multiple questions on her own without prompting and recalls methods from earlier lessons.

Meanwhile, Georgia in Year 11 has begun explaining annuity table calculations more clearly—her answers are now both more concise and detailed compared to her initial brief responses. Last week, she completed an advanced financial maths question without any hints.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Jade has settled in really well with Sangdi, and has told me that she feels she is learning and understanding new things each time they have a meeting. I am also happy with Sangdi as I can see that he has already made progress with Jade.

Holly has stated that Jennifer her tutor is helping her with her Maths. She is certainly in a better frame of mind with Jennifer than when either myself or my husband had tried to help in the past. Early days yet but looking positive.

We are very happy with Kirill. In a short space of time he seems to have developed a good relationship with our sons. They feel comfortable asking for assistance in understanding concepts etc. I feel that Kirill is a good match and a great role model for them!!! It doesn't hurt that he is from NZ (like me); sporty (like my boys) and at Melbourne Uni doing engineering , which is something that I think may interest Mason!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Wallsend Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Bishop Tyrrell Anglican College.
