To be able to mould and modify a lesson plan in accordance to what the student's need. Being compassionate and understanding their struggles and what they lack, going that little extra mile to help them push for them to get what they want with their grades. I am highly adaptable and am always thinking outside the box. I have a natural knack for…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is listen to their struggles and try to teach them through empathy. I have experience tutoring and teaching at a university, while working there most of my students told me that my strength is my diligence and my attentiveness to their…

Tayden's lesson with Janelle went quite well. They got along pretty well and Janelle is quite an experienced tutor with a lot of patience.

Inside ForestdaleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Hunter focused on building multiplication and division skills as a foundation for early algebra concepts, using practical examples.

For Year 10, Jasmine worked through the use of surds in equations and applied Pythagoras' Theorem in three dimensions, including work with the unit circle.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Emily tackled derivative techniques for exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions and practiced forming equations from real-world word problems to deepen understanding of calculus applications.

Recent Challenges

A Year 4 student repeatedly found it difficult to format fraction addition and subtraction, leading to misplaced numbers and small errors—he still has a little confusion on how to layout his addition and subtraction of fractions.

In Year 11 Physics, another student relied heavily on notes for formula recall rather than memorizing them, slowing down progress during assignments.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 Maths student often rounded excessively or defaulted to technology instead of expressing answers exactly; this habit affected accuracy when constructing functions.

In each case, these process habits resulted in lost marks or slower improvement than expected.

Recent Achievements

One Forestdale tutor recently noticed a big shift in a Year 11 student who, after weeks of relying heavily on hints for calculus questions, started tackling function manipulation and differentiation independently—she even asked for tougher problems mid-session.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 student who previously hesitated to participate during lessons began openly checking her answers aloud when working through tricky linear regression tasks, rather than waiting passively for feedback.

At the primary level, Hunter moved from confusion about decimal place value to confidently converting between fractions and decimals without prompting; last session he chose which method to use entirely on his own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Desiree and Hyolie have Got off to a great start. Hyolie is very professional, patient and shows Desiree the relevance of everything she teaches her.  Desiree feels very comfortable with her and I look forward to a continued relationship between the two of them. I would also highly recommend Hyolie to other students.

Well the man is a genius - he can get Katie and Alex to focus for an hour, it's amazing and has ignited a small flame in their interest in Maths which I am sure will continue to grow over time. He has a great way of communicating and so far it seems to be working

Thank you for the email. Everything is going well so far. Nicholas is happy and believes the tutoring is helping already. The one on one means he can ask questions in a safe environment. Teresa is very professional and reliable, always turns up on time. Nicholas says they get on well.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Logan West Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Boronia Heights State School.
