It is all about knowing the audience. Not all kids/students have the same skillset, some are good in memorizing, some are good in analogy, some are good in logic and arithmetic. So it's about knowing their strengths and align it in a way that it would enhance their ability to learn. I am very dynamic and very patient in terms of tutoring, the…

I believe the most important things a tutor can do for a student are building their confidence, making learning engaging, and helping them truly understand concepts rather than just memorizing them. I always try to break down complex topics into simpler ideas, adapt my teaching to the students learning style, and create a supportive environment…

I believe that creating a supportive learning environment is the most important factor. It's not just about helping them get the right answers, but also feeling capable and motivated in studing. A good tutor should provide consistent and patient guidance so that learning becomes less stressful. I'm patient and have the ability to explain concepts…

As a tutor, I believe that the most important thing I can bring to a student is a different perspective on the subject matter they are studying. While teachers and textbooks can be great resources, they often present the material in a standardized and one-size-fits-all way that may not resonate with every student. By providing a different voice…

I believe that a tutor shouldn't be perceived as a strictly authoritative figure - keeping the student engaged and building a strong relationship is a vital component in the effectiveness of the tutoring. Students - myself included - gain much more knowledge when lessons are more flexible. It usually takes me a few sessions to understand a…

I think the most important thing that a tutor can do for a student is listen. Listen to their problem, why they may not understand a concept, and then help to solve the problem together. I think that having fun, is also very important. One of my main goals aside from helping a student understand the content, is to help the student enjoy the…

I would consider the most important thing a tutor could do, would be to teach their student more than they knew to begin with. Inside FyshwickTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Muhammad worked on crafting a collaborative crime fiction podcast, including character profiling and drafting scenes, while also reading and answering comprehension questions for "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas."

Year 8 student Ari focused on statistics by interpreting box-and-whisker plots, identifying outliers, and practicing data representation with dot plots and column graphs.

Meanwhile, Year 3 student Josh completed an English reading assessment and tackled basic NAPLAN-style math problems to build foundational skills.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 English, one student deleted a full essay after the teacher required a new format, but did not send a revised draft for feedback—"he may have been pressed for time or reluctant to share," noted the tutor.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 maths student repeatedly forgot to bring homework, impacting their ability to review concepts between lessons.

For Year 9 statistics, messy written work and skipped steps in finding outliers led to confusion during class discussion.

In senior English (Year 12), an unstructured approach to essay planning left responses underdeveloped and difficult to edit before deadlines.

Recent Achievements

One Fyshwick tutor noticed a Year 11 student who previously struggled with graphing linear equations now confidently using both elimination and substitution methods after targeted step-by-step guidance.

In Year 8 English, a student who was hesitant to ask questions about essay structure has begun sending through drafts independently and actively seeking feedback, showing new initiative in his writing process.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who used to rush reading comprehension is now taking time to back up answers with text evidence, pausing to explain reasoning before moving on.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Deepti has been tutoring my daughter for 1 year now. I am so happy with the difference it has made to my daughters understanding of a subject that she was very behind in and I was very concerned.

Shruti helped me so much in my yr 12 studies as a school friend. She is extremely intelligent and has a lot of patience. Shruti gave me the skills and confidence in my learning and allowed me to succeed in yr 12. Shruti is like a big sister to me, I highly recommend everyone to choose her as a tutor.

Everything is going very well, thank you very much, we are very happy with the tutoring Harshdeep is providing to Manon, he is very thorough.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Kingston Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Narrabundah Early Childhood School.
