Inside GranvilleTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 3 student Ayaan worked through addition and multiplication basics, then explored simple fractions using number lines.

For Year 10, Zara revised linear graphing by finding x- and y-intercepts from equations, while also practicing algebraic equations with a focus on rearranging terms.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Daniel tackled physics concepts around distance vs. time graphs and applied kinematics formulas to real-world problems.

Recent Challenges

Homework completion was a recurring issue, especially in Year 7 and above—"homework!" appeared repeatedly for students working on algebra, factorising, and trigonometry.

One senior student forgot to bring a quiz home for review, despite reminders to write notes as prompts.

In Year 11 Physics, not having a reference sheet meant key formulas were missed during practice.

A Year 9 student avoided reviewing test mistakes; "will need to look through his test to see where he's made mistakes," the tutor noted. Without this reflection, misconceptions in indices and signs persisted into new material, compounding frustration after each assessment.

Recent Achievements

A Granville tutor noticed a big shift with one Year 9 student who used to avoid seeking help; this week, he spoke up about confusion, leading to fewer mistakes.

Another high schooler, in Year 11 physics, had struggled to recall what topics needed extra revision but now arrived at tutoring sessions ready with a list of questions and even brought home his quiz for review—something he'd never remembered before.

Meanwhile, a younger student who previously relied on finger counting completed all their times tables unaided this session and finished the set in under two minutes.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Jillian is a fantastic tutor and has really helped Sam. She is flexible with hours and very accommodating. We are very happy with the tutoring

Jonathan is extremely happy with Jessica and how she has supported him in the three sessions they have already had together. His words following their initial session were, 'I wish she was my Maths teacher at school. She explains things so well.' I was very pleased that Jonathan felt this comfortable with Jessica. The issue of school holidays came up and I asked if sessions stop or continue during this time and Jessica said it was up to Jonathan and I. I asked Jonathan what he would like to do and he actually said he would like to continue the sessions during the holidays. I was surprised and very grateful that Jonathan feels this way, so we will continue through the holidays.

David is a very experienced tutor with skills to adapt to suit the individual's learning ability; thus delivering an improved educational experience to achieve results.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Granville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Muslim Girls Grammar School.
