Have the student recognise that there is more to the subject than just what they see at school. To understand their unique ways of learning and use that to help them flourish. I think the most important a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to get to know and read them perfectly. This allows a tutor to know exactly what a student needs to excel, help them set realistic goals and knowing not only when to help but also when not to help, rather letting the student try and solve a complex question themselves without…

I believe the most important thing a chemistry tutor can do is leave the client with a feeling of achievement, that they have gained a new, reinforced or re-established understanding of things they may have been uncertain or unaware about. If at the end of the day the individual feels like they haven't changed, then this, I believe is an…

One of the most important things a chemistry tutor can do for a student is to not only focus on assessment performance, but to help a student to love learning. I have recognised that merely rote learning and constantly completing practice questions can only allow a student to improve so far- a student must have interest in what they are learning…

I'm just into my first few sessions with Tavonga, and he's explained and broken down Yr 12 Chemistry so well. He's very understanding and patient to allow me to totally grasp the syllabus.

Inside GrasmereTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 5 student Chloe focused on number patterns and algebra techniques, along with multiplication and division strategies using practical examples.

In Year 9, James tackled equations involving fractions and worked through worded problems with equations to strengthen his problem-solving approach.

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student, Emily, practiced determining the nature of stationary points and inflexion points in calculus and began exploring trigonometric identities using step-by-step worked examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 5 student showed improvement in conversion rates but sometimes left homework incomplete, which meant time in lessons was spent reviewing missed basics instead of building new skills.

In Year 9 algebra, written work became difficult to follow when layout was rushed—"he squeezed steps together on one line," as a tutor noted—which led to confusion during revision.

A Year 11 student avoided practicing with more challenging differentiation and curve-sketching problems, sticking to familiar examples and missing out on critical exam strategies.

Meanwhile, a Year 12 student postponed summary sheets for advanced integration, making it harder to recall key rules under pressure.

Recent Achievements

One Grasmere tutor recently saw a Year 9 student who used to hesitate with algebra now ask for help as soon as she's unsure, rather than guessing and moving on.

In a high school session, another student who'd struggled to apply the chain rule in calculus was able to work through several integral area questions independently after extra practice.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 learner who previously mixed up conversion rates managed all her decimal-to-fraction problems without needing reminders and explained her method out loud for the first time.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I came to work with Ezymaths because I knew I would get a wide range of students to tutor, which would undoubtedly improve my tutoring skill as well as communications skills (dealing with students and parents). The biggest accomplishment would be when my student's mark improved significantly and she moved up to the upper maths class in the next semester. I felt very proud of my students when they remembered the skills I taught them last week and used those skills to complete their homework and also to apply to other similar questions. The CEPs and various resources were useful. Thank you for your support for the past year!

I came to Ezy Math to get a job that I would be able to gain a range of skills from while working in my own time, which turned out great as I was able to work with clients around my own schedule. I've been quite happy with the results of my tutoring, I had a student who was getting a 'C' on average up to the top of the class with consistent 'A's. It's really great seeing the work you do affect others and when you do a good job, it really shows. I would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to other prospective tutors, I never encountered a single problem with them and if I ever needed information, resources or help, they were always able to provide it to me. I would also recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to clients as having Ezy Math as a support structure definitely makes the work easier.

Laura has definitely gotten Diana to a great start. She eagerly anticipates her tutoring  and is seeming to take more  interest in Maths especially in the strands that she did not feel very confident about. Diana has told me that Laura's  explanations are easily understood and is simplified which makes it easy to remember. She also explains various strategies that can be used for problem solving which is good for time management when attempting to solve problems in class. Diana is able to use the notes taken during tutoring in class which is assisting with her understanding of the relevant strand or concept.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Camden Council Library Service—or at your child's school (with permission), like Camden Public School.
