I think the most important thing I can do for my students is give them the confidence and self-esteem they need to improve in not just the subjects I'm tutoring but in their academic career as a whole. Every student is different and will require different teaching methods, but every student deserves to feel like they are capable of continuing…

Be supportive and believe in them wholeheartedly but at the same time not spoon feed them and sugar coat the level they are at. I believe the best thing a tutor can do is be realistic and set realistic goals for the student so that they work towards a common goal. I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student is to understand their point of view. From my experience as a student, I struggled with issues inside and outside the classroom, and some teachers just stacked on the workload with no recognition of how much it wasn't helping. It was my ancient teacher who helped me enjoy studying as he…

The most important thing as a tutor is to help students connect to what they are learning. It is the job of the tutor to differentiate instruction based on the learning preferences of the students. Further, a tutor reinforces what the students have been learning at school. I am a teacher with 15 years of teaching experience. My last school was…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to guide them towards the right path in their studies. Attentive listening and keep everything simple: it's deducted from the informal tutor experience that lecturing over hours and hours isn't a good way to help the kids. I tend to ask question like "Did you get it? Was it confusing?" and using simple words to explain the concepts, instead of overwhelming them with a pile of information or technical…

Inside GreenacreTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Sarah practised time conversions and explored different multiplication and division methods using visual aids.

Year 9 student Sam focused on solving algebraic equations by expanding brackets and also worked through formulas, including changing the subject of a formula.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Michael tackled probability questions with an emphasis on conditional probability and received support with related homework tasks.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, a student struggled with interpreting division questions and often forgot key steps, leading to confusion during reciprocal tasks. As one tutor noted, "he needed more direction and was very slow in his problem solving."

By Year 11, forgetting important algebraic formulas and prior content made it difficult to approach new problems confidently—sometimes even basic equations slipped away mid-task.

Motivation flagged during lengthy exercise sessions, especially when progress felt slow or mistakes piled up.

In another session, missing out on half the planned content due to time management left unfinished work and mounting frustration as deadlines approached.

Recent Achievements

A Greenacre tutor noted a Year 11 student has become much less reliant on prompts, now working through tricky equations independently and even stopping the lesson to clarify steps when unsure—something he never did before.

In a recent session with a Year 8 student, the tutor observed that she completed her homework ahead of time for the first time this term and could quickly explain how square roots work without needing reminders.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who used to hesitate with new maths topics now confidently answers perimeter questions unaided, finishing all practice problems by himself.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

We engaged your services last week to assist our son, Riley. Within that short time, we're absolutely delighted and extremely impressed with the professionalism of your excellent tutor, Eliran! He is very responsive in his communication with me and has been most co-operative when I wished to match his intervention with that of Riley's school curriculum. Riley was somewhat anxious of working with a stranger, however within the first 20 minutes of the session Eliran allayed his fears with his ability to quickly establish a positive rapport, sweeping Riley up with his clear expectations of how Riley should behave in a confident manner. Eliran is obviously very competent in his subject matter and explained concepts in a simple and repetitive style. Riley was faced with a test 2 days after the initial Saturday tutorial and Eliran was most amenable to making a second session at 9am the following Sunday morning, in order to fit in with our needs! Given that this meant Eliran had to travel to our home using 2 modes of public transport, I was extremely impressed with Eliran's commitment to his job and my son. Furthermore, Eliran was also very generous with his time starting and finishing the session 10 minutes before and after the hour had concluded! I informed Riley that this kind of dedication is not common in every employee and that I was astounded with Eliran's diligent work ethic. I believe this conversation inspired Riley to perform with the similar level of integrity, and it has already paid off! We all eagerly awaited the outcome of Riley's test and we're absolutely thrilled that he scored a distinction of 79%, rising well above his average performance of 60%! My husband and I couldn't have wished for a better start, to what we hope will be a long and rewarding relationship with Eliran & Ezymathtutoring!

We are please to advise that Chelsea has been attending 2 x sessions with Shayikh and already are seeing results. Shayikh is an excellent tutor and we are happy with the outcome so far.

Very happy with Thien. My son has jumped from very bad marks in tests to getting high marks.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Greenacre Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St John Vianney Catholic Primary School.
