This in turn ensures students are effectively learning to promote their understanding in a topic and make learning feel relevant rather than make them memorise topics and concepts…

I believe making a student become confident in their own ability is very important. Students sometimes have doubts themselves and I believe I can encourage them to be confident and actually enjoy learning. A tutor should also develop growth in a student and provide a practical path to succeed. I am relatable, hardworking and easy going. I am able…

I think the most important thing a tutor can do for a student isn't to just teach them the content, but instill a certain way of thinking. This way of carrying yourself can be summed up in five words: the relentless pursuit of knowledge. I wish to bring that mindset to the students I tutor so they not only make the most of their learning in the…

Tutoring is mainly about facilitating the students understanding of concepts, but the tutor should also aim to foster a drive in the student to understand why they are struggling with the respective topic and a will to seek a solution on their own. The tutor should eventually seek to equip students with self-awareness and a drive for…

One of the most important things would be the environment the tutor and student are in. Inside GreenacreTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Sarah practised time conversions and explored different multiplication and division methods using visual aids.

Year 9 student Sam focused on solving algebraic equations by expanding brackets and also worked through formulas, including changing the subject of a formula.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Michael tackled probability questions with an emphasis on conditional probability and received support with related homework tasks.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, a student struggled with interpreting division questions and often forgot key steps, leading to confusion during reciprocal tasks. As one tutor noted, "he needed more direction and was very slow in his problem solving."

By Year 11, forgetting important algebraic formulas and prior content made it difficult to approach new problems confidently—sometimes even basic equations slipped away mid-task.

Motivation flagged during lengthy exercise sessions, especially when progress felt slow or mistakes piled up.

In another session, missing out on half the planned content due to time management left unfinished work and mounting frustration as deadlines approached.

Recent Achievements

A Greenacre tutor noted a Year 11 student has become much less reliant on prompts, now working through tricky equations independently and even stopping the lesson to clarify steps when unsure—something he never did before.

In a recent session with a Year 8 student, the tutor observed that she completed her homework ahead of time for the first time this term and could quickly explain how square roots work without needing reminders.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 learner who used to hesitate with new maths topics now confidently answers perimeter questions unaided, finishing all practice problems by himself.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Greenacre Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like St John Vianney Catholic Primary School.
