As far as my understanding, as a tutor, he/she always needs to motivate their students to think more widely and creatively. It is true, initially, they will fail several times. Allowing them to do it, will build their confidence for their future, which will be eventually worth it for their life. As a tutor, I am always friendly, patiently try to…

To teach a topic is to simplify it, make the students imagine and live in the topic by giving them real life examples and case studies. As a tutor I beleive in understanding student's perspective, I try to put myself in their shoes and consider all the possibilities. While preparing a topic I prepare as if the students know everything (which helps…

The most important you can do for a student is to know their abilities and work their capabilities to make them better at the subject they're trying to get better at. It is also important to understand every student is different and not all of them can grapple a concept quickly. But as a tutor, I must make sure I am accounting for each students…

I believe tutoring helps students develop a genuine love for learning. There are 2 characteristics a tutor needs to achieve this. Firstly, the tutor should have an open and friendly personality. Learning is inherently effortful, and having someone friendly to guide the process makes it more enjoyable and productive. Additionally, tutors need to…

One of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is respect their learning process. Not every student will automatically get how calculus works from reading a textbook, it's up to us the tutors to build a relationship with the student and figure out techniques that will be the most effective in helping them learn. We've all struggled…

I definitely think that there needs to be a solid understanding of the student and the way in which they learn so that the tutor can teach them in a way which is most effective to them. Along with this, I think that the tutor should make the student feel comfortable with them so that they feel free to ask questions or ask for further…

Inside GreenslopesTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Caleb explored chance and probability scenarios, along with basic arithmetic calculations.

Year 8 student Paul tackled algebraic expressions, measurement problems, geometry concepts, and probability through school test revision.

For Year 10, Ruby focused on quadratic equations—finding turning points and axes of symmetry by completing the square—and practiced using intercepts to determine the equation of a quadratic from its graph.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student often left algebra steps incomplete—skipped showing working when simplifying expressions, as noted—making it difficult to spot and correct sign errors.

In senior maths, one Year 11 student's graph work was held back by unclear layout: axis scales were inconsistently marked, leading to confusion about gradients.

A Year 10 student preparing an essay hesitated to write full sentences for ideas, worried they "weren't perfect yet," which slowed progress and limited drafting practice.

Meanwhile, a Year 7 learner sometimes relied on counting by hand instead of memorizing basic addition facts, making multi-step calculations much slower during class activities.

Recent Achievements

A Greenslopes tutor recently noticed a big shift with a Year 10 student who started independently detecting and correcting her own mistakes in algebra, after previously needing step-by-step guidance.

In a senior English session, another high schooler was able to restructure her essay based on feedback—something she'd hesitated to do before—which made her arguments much clearer and stronger.

Meanwhile, a Year 5 student who had struggled to stay focused managed to complete all his decimal addition questions correctly and worked with much more concentration than usual. The session wrapped up as he answered every problem without prompting.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I just want to say that Daniel has finished his HSC and he received absolutely wonderful help from Andrew. I have recommended Ezy Math Tutoring to a friend of mine who will be in touch with you. Also, Lucy has been lovely and very helpful for Julia. Julia has finished her exams for the year and she is sure that without Lucy's help she would have really struggled with her maths.

Thank you for your email. All is going well with Avi, Michael is making steady gains and we are happy with his progress.  Avishag works well with Michael, she has a mature, organised work ethic, and is a great role model for Michael.

I believe Paige is beginning to ask Jake more questions. I have advised her if she is still unsure of something she should ask for Jake to explain it again or in a different way. I feel she is starting to have more faith and she has advised me she is understanding some concepts a bit more clearly.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Stones Corner Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Greenslopes State School.
