I believe getting to know the students learning style is essential. They may learn best with kinesthetic based learning and not auditory based as much. So, depending on the altering it to help them learn best it super important to make sure they understand in the easiest way for them. I believe I am very friendly and easy to talk to making it easy…

For me, the most important thing a tutor can provide a student is confidence. It is paramount that a tutor encourages the student to become intrinsically motivated to study and to cultivate a love for the subject, as this will allow the student to fully achieve their potential. Ensuring that a student has confidence and self belief can be just as…

I strongly believe as a tutor, we might have a considerable knowledge in different areas but we have to always ensure whether the students understood the basic concepts. We should always use different methodologies to teach different students so that they gain the right knowledge. Moreover, I believe a tutor should always have the capability to…

Inside Hacketts GullyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Jacob practised finding mean, median, and range for sets of numbers and used diagrams to visualise stem-and-leaf plots.

In Year 7, Mia focused on simplifying algebraic expressions by combining like terms and applying the distributive property to expand brackets.

Meanwhile, Year 8 student Alex worked through converting fractions to decimals and percentages as well as calculating long division with multi-digit numbers.

Recent Challenges

A Year 8 student struggled to complete assigned probability homework and was easily distracted by her laptop, with a tutor noting, "she wasn't cooperative and didn't want to involve herself in the lesson, even though she has a test the next day."

In Year 6 English, another student avoided writing answers herself, preferring the tutor to do it, which limited her preparation for upcoming essays.

A Year 4 learner often left homework unfinished and lost focus during tasks like story planning. Moments like these led to missed practice opportunities and reduced readiness for assessments.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Hacketts Gully noticed Ava has begun tackling her maths homework independently and completed every set task this week without prompting—a big shift from last term, when she'd hesitate or leave questions blank.

In Year 10 science, Luana showed real growth by openly explaining where she got stuck on probability formulas, rather than staying silent as she did before; after working through examples together, she could confidently apply the method to new problems.

Meanwhile, Addison (Year 4) now volunteers answers for fractions and can convert improper fractions into mixed numbers on her own—last month she would only attempt these with step-by-step guidance.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Nicola likes being tutored by Avi who she finds very patient and has a great ability to explain concepts so that they are easily understood.  We have had a great start and are really looking forward to some good results. As a parent I find Avi mature, responsible and reliable.  She is a good role model for Nicola.

Hello , both Ruby and I are very happy with her expanding understanding and Boris is a positive , patient and focused young man , he seems to be connecting with Ruby quite well with mutual respect . We look forward to more understanding.

Thank you for your follow up of my son's tutor.  I am very happy with Ben and my son told me that he is getting along with Ben, much better than his previous teacher.  Ben's teaching techniques is very different compare to his previous teacher, therefore my son is finding he has learnt much more with Ben.  Thank you for sending him such a good teacher.  I would highly recommend Ben to my friends if they ever need a tutor. Thank you.
