I believe that as a tutor, my most crucial roles involve instilling self-confidence in my students, providing reliability, simplifying complex concepts, and fostering a genuine passion for the subjects they study. In my four years as a teacher in Italy, I've honed my tutoring skills with a strong emphasis on empathy for young minds, coupled with…

Science Tutor Hamlyn Terrace, NSW
The most important thing a tutor could do is create a safe environment for the student. Learning can be more comprehensive and explicit once the student is comfortable around their tutor’s presence. The tutor also must maintain and adhere to an elaborate study plan to help the student. I am very patient and would never snap even on being asked…

Create a supportive and positive learning environment: It’s crucial to establish trust, where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. A positive, encouraging atmosphere helps boost their confidence and motivation. I think a strength I have as a tutor is communication. As it assists me in breaking down concepts into…

Inside HalekulaniTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Harry focused on rearranging equations to isolate variables and applied SOHCAHTOA trigonometric ratios to solve for unknown triangle sides.

For Year 11, Mia completed practice with geometric and arithmetic sequences and series, then revised differentiation techniques including the chain rule and identifying stationary points using past HSC-style questions.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Jacob worked through financial mathematics topics such as annuities and compound interest, along with probability functions involving normal distribution by analysing recent trial exam papers.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student hesitated to write down working in multi-step algebra and trigonometry, saying, "I'll try this in my head first," which made it difficult to spot where confusion over rearranging equations or SOHCAHTOA arose.

Meanwhile, a Year 8 student repeatedly left homework incomplete; as one tutor observed, "he's missed several sets now and struggles more with new types of percentage questions."

For a Year 9 class, over-reliance on calculators meant errors crept into basic mental maths during index rule problems. In those moments, progress slowed—not because concepts were out of reach, but because process habits got in the way.

Recent Achievements

In Year 10, Thomas had struggled with algebraic expressions but now attempts word problems he once avoided and was noticeably quicker at expanding them this week.

During a senior maths session, one student who previously felt daunted by complex integration questions began breaking down the steps herself and tackled more difficult problems without hesitation.

Meanwhile, a Year 4 student who found decimal addition tricky earlier managed to complete several decimal multiplication tasks independently and with few errors, finishing all set problems before the end of the lesson.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Hello,  I am sorry I have been so uncommunicative.  Dev was lovely and I was sorry to see her go.  She helped Thea very much with her maths and did herself out of a job.  Thea and her teacher told me that she had caught up and was actually finishing before everyone else.  I hope however, I can get Dev back if Thea's maths falls back again.  She was really fantastic and can highly recommend her.

Daniel is absolutely thrilled with Sheetal. I am also impressed with Sheetal's approach and commitment. His tutoring dwells into understanding the concepts behind mathematical formulas, not just simple application, which is exactly what I had been hoping for. I am also pleased that Sheetal is open to extra lesson should Daniel need them. So in response to your question - very, very happy. I've been recommending you guys to my friends !!!

I applied to work at Ezy Math Tutoring because I was looking for a job that could give me teaching experience. Not only do Ezy Math provide this through the tutoring but they also give ongoing tutor learning modules to keep you thinking about different aspects of your tutoring and to help you keep improving as a tutor. They are dedicated to ensuring that their tutors are constantly improving and this is fantastic for both the tutor and the client! I appreciate the skills I have learned as my time as a tutor and am thankful for their support that they give me.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Toukley Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Budgewoi Public School.
