Offer another way of learning that teachers aren't able to. Teachers have to teach a multitude of students so if a single student in lagging behind the class, they aren't able to help. That is where tutors come in, tutors help students with specific areas of study and also prepares the student for exams and assignments in order for the student to…

The most important things a tutor can do are grow to understand the student so they can best help them. I think that if the tutor understands a student, if they have a strong rapport then they can identify a student's weak and strong points and work to solidify their strengths and mitigate their weaknesses. Although I have no formal tutoring…

Make sure that the student is comfortable with your way of teaching and is actively involved. Tutoring is not only about jabbering stuff even though the student doesn’t understand a single thing. You have to take it slow and steady until your student is confident enough and can explain the same concept back to you even well. - calmness…

The biggest thing would be to help students understand that ignorance is not failure. Just because they don't know something "basic", that does not mean they are worse than others, or are stupider, or are not going to succeed. It simply means they were not taught in a way that makes sense to them. This could be for a number of reasons, and not…

Tejas is amazing. He is so innovative and creative in how he explains math concepts. He had Harper running outside tonight to get a leaf so he could demonstrate some learning to him. He also has really tried to get to know Harper and in is genuinely interested in him. We have used several tutor for both my sons schooling, but never quite met anyone as passionate and patient as Tejas.

Inside Hamilton SouthTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Riley worked on division facts and angle recognition, using hands-on examples to build confidence.

For Year 8, Emily focused on collecting like terms in algebraic expressions and practiced converting between fractions, decimals, and percentages with step-by-step methods.

Meanwhile, Year 10 student Liam tackled financial maths topics such as simple and compound interest calculations alongside depreciation questions, applying these to real-world money scenarios for exam readiness.

Recent Challenges

In Year 9, one student often estimated answers for algebra rather than writing out the process to isolate variables. As a tutor observed, "he skipped showing steps in algebra, which hid sign errors."

In Year 10 financial maths, another student relied heavily on formulas and would input numbers without grasping the context or reasoning behind them—making it difficult when questions were worded differently.

Meanwhile, a senior student lost confidence during multi-step algebraic problems, hesitating with "I don't know" until prompted to try. This led to delays and uncertainty when tackling new exam styles under timed conditions.

Recent Achievements

One Hamilton South tutor recently noticed a real shift with Danika, who used to be hesitant about tackling trickier questions—she now confidently asks for help when stuck, rather than waiting passively.

Another high school student, Liz, has become much more organised in preparing for exams; she's started actively reviewing past papers and can now explain her reasoning out loud, which is a big step from her earlier quiet approach.

Meanwhile, Lara (Year 5) improved her times tables speed from 32 to 60 correct answers in 100 seconds—a personal best that shows how regular practice is paying off.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I chose to work with EzyMath because it was very flexible and I could fit it around my uni schedule. Tutoring has really helped me learn how to explain concepts effectively and also greatly improved my leadership and communication skills. Witnessing my students' gradual improvement in not only their technical skills but their confidence in the subject was extremely rewarding. I would recommend EzyMath to fellow tutors and prospective clients.

I'm an older student studying nursing this term I had a maths calculation exam that required 100% to pass . As you can imagine I was "freaking out !!! " 100% are you crazy !!!!!! . Then I meet Lisa !! she was one of my favorite people !! she was punctual, organised , and willing to spend the extra time if needed ,Lisa  researched  and came up with numerous, exams ,test and quiz's and got me all sorted with all the necessary formulas that where need to  get my brain working again . I actually believed I could do this . It was the happiest text I'd ever sent to notify Lisa I passed !! 100%  Wow ,I would have not been able to do it with out Lisa's help .

Thank you for the report. I wanted to take a moment and thank you for sending Brady to our home to assist Laura with math tuition. He fit's in well and has a nice approach to learning for a young student. Very happy client.
