The most important thing a tutor can do is to empower a student in their capabilities. To remind them that they are extremely smart and capable. This encourages them to try their best. I am a very bubbly and kind individual that gets to know each of my students individually. In other words, I find their specific learning methods and resources that…

The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to have faith in them and show the student that you believe that they can reach their goals. Also, always encourage your students to improve and try harder, especially when their exams didn't turn out as well as they hoped. One of my main strengths as a tutor is the ability to build…

I believe the most important aspects is improving their confidence and self-esteem within the subject they struggle with. By providing examples and time it is highest priority to allow them to enjoy the subject by improving their grades. I am very knowledgeable as I did English and English Literature during my VCE. I am also very patient with a…

I think that a tutor who can model different ways to solve a problem is important, as well as being patient and ready for students with different levels of understanding. Furthermore, I believe that one of the most important things a tutor can do for a student is have the ability to be a reliable source when a student is having a difficult time at…

The most important things a tutor can do for a student is to have patience, be willing to take feedback as a tutor, and put the most effort in helping a child get most out of their learning. Often when working with kids of a young age, they can get frustrated quickly if they don't understand something, so it is important to be able to quickly calm…

A tutor must be engaged and attentive towards their students at all times. Students expect to learn and understand content better from their tutoring sessions thus it is the tutor's responsibility to ensure they are leading a class with sincere engagement and enthusiasm. This is especially important because of how easily influenced students are.…

The most important thing a tutor can do for a student is be their genuine supporter. For the students that I have taught in the recent years, I made sure that they are always comfortable asking for assistance and made sure that they feel secure with me and I was successful to gain their trust to help them with their learning development journey.…

Local Reviews

The whole process of organizing a math tutor for my son was a very easy and smooth experience. After submitting my query, I received a call shortly afterward asking for some basic information. We met with our tutor for the first time in math in less than a week and a half. Our tutor was wonderful and greatly benefited my son. We have scheduled additional sessions to continue the assistance. I would highly recommend this service to anyone looking for a math tutor.

Inside Hampton ParkTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 4 student Ethan practiced **converting fractions to percentages** and also worked on telling time using worded problems.

Year 8 student Ben focused on **finding the circumference of circles and sectors**, then began solving basic linear equations by applying reverse operations.

In Year 10, Erik tackled **multiplying matrices** and reviewed network connections, forming and interpreting networks with matrix representation.

Recent Challenges

A Year 9 student was encouraged to "work neatly in his book so that at the end of the year he can understand his own notes," but often left working out incomplete or unclear, which made revision more difficult.

In Year 11 maths, another student relied heavily on their calculator for multiple choice practice ("was advised to mostly use his calculator for exam 1"), missing opportunities to solidify core skills by hand.

A Year 7 learner sometimes forgot set homework, causing delays when moving on to new topics and requiring extra review time. The result: time spent clarifying basics instead of advancing.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Hampton Park noticed Erik, a high school student, now attempts most maths problems independently and has begun developing his own strategies under exam conditions—a real shift from relying heavily on guidance before.

Meanwhile, Aditi (also in high school) was once hesitant to start writing tasks but now takes feedback on board and adds more detail to her paragraphs after each session.

In primary years, Reda recently moved from needing help with tree diagrams to drawing them solo and applying general knowledge when tackling new questions.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

I am very happy so far with Joseph who has started teaching Thomas. He is keen to work with him and seems to be enjoying their sessions

Pippa is very happy with Dexter. Her tutoring style is very effective and Pippa had excellent results in her mid-year exams.

Sam's first session with Wahidah went really well. He really liked her and responded well to her teaching.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Hampton Park Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like River Gum Primary School.
