Biology Tutor Horsley, NSW
As a biology tutor's job is to be supplementary to a students learning, the most vital role a tutor can fulfill is to be sympathetic and understanding to a student's situation, and to be adaptive in the way they assist the student in order to maximise their potential. My communication skills allow me to help students understand complex topics and…

Biology Tutor Berkeley, NSW
Personally, a biology tutor is someone outside of school who the student can rely on for their studies. Students show their vulnerability here so that tutor can build them to be strong at school. So a tutor can help the student be strong on their subjects and understand the subject with life. Understanding the student on what they need first and…

Biology Tutor Shell Cove, NSW
I believe a tutor should be a role model. Where they should embody not only the study skills they teach but also be honest, patient and a motivator, all whilst being professional. Through this a student can grow both academically and as a person allowing them to reap the rewards more deeply. A tutors role is to listen and provide their clients…

Biology Tutor Koonawarra, NSW
Tutors should not be someone that a student can rely on to complete homework or assessments for them. The most important thing a tutor can do for their student is to help them help themselves through assistance and guidance, teaching them the know how of becoming an independent learner so that the student is able to achieve at their own pace. I am…

Inside Haywards BayTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 6 student Cailyn worked through solving **two-step equations by rearranging operations to isolate pronumerals**, and then reinforced her understanding with more practice the following week.

In Year 10, Nicholas focused on trigonometry using **SOHCAHTOA for right-angled triangles** and tackled problems where the unknown side was in the denominator.

Meanwhile, Year 11 student Daniel explored **non-right-angled triangle trigonometry—including bearings and angles of elevation**—and practiced algebraic substitution to prepare for assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 8 maths, a student struggled to recall fraction rules and often left calculator formatting unclear when converting units; as one tutor noted, "she has trouble deciphering the formatting of the calculator."

Meanwhile, a Year 11 student repeatedly avoided writing full working for algebra problems—especially with negatives—which meant sign errors went unnoticed until checking answers.

In Year 5, times tables and "friends of 10" were not yet memorised, so basic multiplication required frequent reference charts rather than mental calculation.

In senior English, another student's topic sentences did not match examples used in paragraphs, requiring late rewrites to restore argument clarity.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Haywards Bay noticed that Joel, a high school student, used to need reminders on which trigonometric ratio to apply but now independently chooses the right function and labels triangle sides without hesitation.

Chelsea, also in high school, showed a clear shift by asking for extra practice with index laws after initially mixing up multiplication and division rules—now she applies them correctly across different question types.

In primary sessions, Ariana once guessed at multiplication answers but has begun reaching for her flashcards first and can now recall tricks accurately before attempting new problems.

What they say about our tutoring

Thanks for the email. We are very happy with Lisa. She is bright and keen and has established a very easy rapport with Xiao. Xiao actually really likes her. We feel very confident that Xiao will continue to make progress with her maths.

Thanks for the email.  I am very happy with Charlie he seems to be doing a good job and Ellah has said that he is doing a good job and is really teaching her the concepts.

We are very happy with AiPing, she works the boys hard and seems to be very knowledgeable.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Oak Flats Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Mount Brown Public School.
