Some of the most important things a tutor can provide for a student in my opinion include; - Have patience - A fun attitude to help make the learning experience enjoyable and to further help understand the difficult concepts they may come across. - Willingness to sacrifice extra time if need be to ensure their student is completely satisfied…

I am so amazed at how responsive my son is with Jason. we have had a lot of trouble getting him engaged in learning to the point where I now believe Jason is a miracle. Big thank you.

Inside HeatherbraeTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 9 student Lily focused on building confidence with algebraic techniques, especially simplifying expressions and solving for unknowns.

For Year 11, Alex explored financial mathematics by working through annuities and compound interest calculations using real-life scenarios.

Meanwhile, Year 12 student Grace reviewed key concepts from the HSC 2017 exam paper, clarifying her understanding of advanced trigonometry and data analysis questions in preparation for upcoming assessments.

Recent Challenges

In Year 12 Maths, a lack of confidence during exams led to second-guessing and overcomplicating problems—one tutor noted, "she knows the content well but freezes up and shuts down under pressure," which resulted in lower marks despite solid preparation.

In Year 8 algebra lessons, forgetting steps for rearranging equations meant she would get stuck mid-problem until prompted.

At the primary level, missed homework and unorganised written work (for example, skipping working out place value or leaving times tables incomplete) made it harder to spot patterns and build lasting recall. The result: time spent re-explaining basics rather than moving forward.

Recent Achievements

A Heatherbrae tutor noticed a big shift in one Year 11 student who used to rely on tree diagrams for probability questions—now she can work out outcomes confidently without them.

In Year 8, another student had previously struggled with rates and ratios but now solves these problems easily after focused sessions.

Meanwhile, a primary student made noticeable progress telling time: after needing repeated help, she completed an entire worksheet independently and quickly converted between analogue and digital times.

Last week, a high schooler who found network diagrams daunting finished her assignment with clear, accurate drawings and even tackled the hardest question on her own.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Before EzyMath, we had tried two different maths tutors for our son Mathew, they have been ok but not great.  I approached EzyMath because Mat wasn't really connecting with the tutors that we had sourced independently.  EzyMath put us in touch with Luke, a Uni student that lived close by. Luke was closer to Mat's age and related to him much better than just another adult telling him what to do.  Luke was flexible and would come on different days if Mat had a test that he needed to prepare for. The other thing that I love about EzyMath is that they do the character vetting for you, it's not just some random out of the paper that says they know how to teach Math.  We are thrilled with Mathew's new found confidence with this subject and would recommend EzyMath to anyone who needs a bit of extra help engaging with a subject and becoming more confident.  Happy kid is a happy parent!  Thank you EzyMath.

Mia is loving her tutor, she even said she wishes he could be her teacher because of how well he is explaining everything to her. Thank you!

We are very happy with Elissa. Matteo likes her and is very happy to work with her each week. He is definitely gaining more confidence. Thank you!

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Raymond Terrace Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Hunter River High School.
