These characteristics will offer the student the necessary tools he / she needs to succeed in his / her academics in a manner that is more sustainable than mere "motivation." I consider that a tutor most importantly can remove or lessen the weaknesses that may be holding back a student. This then enables them to work at the same level or in advance of their colleagues and fellow students, removing the feelings of inadequacy and giving self-efficacy. I have had many experiences in business and have much knowledge about…

I think the most important things are attention, patience and understanding. It is important for a tutor to understand their student and tailor their education individually to make it work in the best way possible. Motivation and confidence are two key elements of student success, if I can support them in achieving a sense of self-efficacy regarding these elements, they are bound to see improvement. Inside HenleyTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 7 student Jess worked through multiplying and dividing fractions, with a focus on conversions between fractions, decimals, and percentages, as well as calculator skills for fraction problems.

In Year 8, Imogen revised key topics like adding and subtracting fractions (including mixed numerals and improper fractions) alongside identifying lowest common multiples and highest common factors.

Meanwhile, Year 6 student Rose practiced classifying angles and triangles, plus developed her understanding of rounding numbers using practical examples.

Recent Challenges

A Year 4 student often hesitated to share answers aloud in maths, double-checking each response with the tutor—even when correct—revealing how a lack of confidence slowed progress in addition and subtraction.

In Year 9 algebra, one student skipped writing out steps for linear equations; as a tutor noted, "he worked it out mentally but missed sign errors that weren't visible until we checked together."

For a senior class, revision efforts focused mostly on familiar formula questions rather than tackling harder word problems or statistics tasks, leaving exam-style challenges unpracticed and gaps undetected during feedback.

Recent Achievements

A tutor in Henley noticed a Year 10 student who used to rely heavily on prompts now regularly asks clarifying questions and tackles complex algebraic problems with minimal guidance.

Another high schooler, previously hesitant with negative numbers, has started using number lines independently and even progressed onto linear equations, demonstrating new initiative during sessions.

Meanwhile, a younger primary student who struggled to recall times tables is now completing mixed multiplication worksheets quickly and accurately—recently finishing the 6 times table out of order with no mistakes.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Ezy Math Tutoring is a company that I would comfortably work with again as it provided me with the opportunity to work with students commited to improving in the classroom. Ezy Math Tutoring is not only a company that aims to help students with their mathematics but goes above and beyond to help clients with their general student careers, through the Continuing Education Program modules that tutors are asked to go through with their students on a regular basis. I liked the purpose they served. Ezy Math Tutoring finds great importance in informing the parents about their childs progress. The monthly progress reports help busy parents keep up to date with the work being covered and the overall progress of their child, which was the main attraction for me. If you are seeking a professional service that provides results I would highly reccomend Ezy Math Tutoring to any of the parents and prospective tutors out there. 22nd July 2012

Ezy Math Tutoring provided me with a lot of support, resources and training during my time working for them. I found teaching the students very rewarding and seeing the improvement in results really made it worth it. I would definitely recommend Ezy Math Tutoring for both prospective clients and fellow tutors as each will benefit greatly from this service. 23rd July 2012

Ezymaths is a great place to work as tutors are provided with the combination of independence and assistance needed to further any students' education. 30th July 2012

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Gladesville Library—or at your child's school (with permission), like Riverside Girls High School.
