Inside HighfieldsTutoring Sessions

Content Covered

Year 8 student Chloe worked on algebraic equations with pronumerals on both sides and revisited the Pythagorean theorem, applying it to solve for unknown side lengths in triangles.

Year 10 student Jamie focused on simplifying surds and indices, including rationalising denominators and expressing answers in index form.

For Year 12, Alex completed revision of financial mathematics topics such as compound interest and depreciation by interpreting worded questions and converting time periods, supporting upcoming assessment preparation.

Recent Challenges

A Year 11 student in chemistry repeatedly left homework incomplete, particularly with tritation and enthalpy calculation reviews; as noted, "he hadn't completed part of the homework on year 11 content," which meant gaps in knowledge persisted into lesson time.

In Year 12 maths, one student's notes were often undated and disorganized, leading to difficulty tracking progress and reviewing for exams—extra time was spent hunting for missing work instead of practicing questions.

Meanwhile, a Year 9 learner avoided writing out full working in algebra, hiding small sign errors that only became obvious during revision. Confidence sometimes dipped after setbacks in test planning or when tricky worded problems appeared, causing hesitation mid-question.

Recent Achievements

One Highfields tutor noticed a Year 9 student who previously hesitated to ask for help now talks through his maths process aloud and confidently attempts each algebra step without prompting.

In a recent senior session, Jackson managed to complete challenging network theory questions independently, having struggled with these only a fortnight ago—his new habit of underlining key terms in problems has made a big difference.

Meanwhile, one of our youngest students surprised their tutor by scoring full marks across all subjects tackled this week and then volunteering to try more complex addition tasks beyond the set work.

What they say about our tutoring

quote

Thank you for the email- yes Steph is off to a great start and has developed a great rapport with William- he is approachable, dependable and enthusiastic-  - I am extremely happy with things.

It was a pleasure working with such a lovely organization. Not only do they listen but they try and solve the child learning difficulties. There tutors are great and also support the child. My daughters mark improved and so did her love for Math's. Would recommend Ezy Math Tutoring to all.

Just a quick email to thank you to Ezy Math and especially Daniel. Natalya received her report card yesterday and passed maths which hasn't happened since the end of year 4. Her teacher has said that continued practice is neccesary for her to continue to pass as she tends to forget the maths concepts when not applying them regularly. Don, I and her teacher have seen an incredible increase in her confidence in Maths as she is no longer afraid to put her hand up and answer a question. Daniel is such a fantastic tutor for Natalya and she responds very well to his approach to tutoring.

Local Spots for Tutoring

If you'd prefer not to have lessons at home, tutoring can also take place at a local library—such as Charlestown Library, walyamayi—or at your child's school (with permission), like Kahibah Public School.
